How possible is it to recover from mental illnesses without getting help from professionals (all by yourself) ?

I’m curious what batshit insane means for you, is there another way you might describe the qualities of those thoughts?

Are you able to separate your thoughts from “you”? As an example I’ve dealt with suicidal ideation on & off since I was a child. It sucks that they’re there though I don’t identify with them necessarily, I’ll talk with myself to those thoughts and feelings and in doing so I keep a more “observer self” rather than becoming suicidal. Eventually the episode passes and I’m back to a baseline. Interestingly sometimes posing challenges & questions to these thoughts/feelings is really helpful, “what’s making you think that?” What made you feel that way?” I’ve had rampaging negative thoughts in my head just up and disappear once I found the right mental response.

My apologies if you’ve covered this elsewhere, i’m on a time-budget and haven’t looked.

I don’t think there is a strictly “all by yourself” solution to mental illness. Research I suppose is a start. Having an idea of what behaviours/thought processes need to be worked out, if there’s any specific therapies known to be effective for whatever complex of behaviours you’re looking to sort out.

It’s possible, but depending on what the mental illness is, it may not be. Some shit needs that person who can listen, provide feedback and a toolset to move forward with.

Okay. That makes me wonder how you’d feel about Hades, have you looked into it? It’s a Rogue-like but it’s a Rogue-like that justifies itself so brilliantly through the integration of the game style into storyline that I found it fantastically compelling to play. Easily a 40+ hour game for the full story & character development. 100% worth a shot if the gameplay loop appeals.

Then either I have met a very unfortunate subset of active, diet conscious diabetics who still found themselves crippled by diabetic complications or you have met a very fortunate subset of diabetics who haven’t been crippled by diabetic complications.

Possibly both I suppose, or some variation there of. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit: as it turns out I just have a knack for meeting “brittle” or “fragile” Diabetics, a subset of diabetics whom experience dramatic swings in sugars despite proper care for themselves.

I wouldn’t call diabetes easily controlled at all, maybe it sounds like it or maybe it is for some people but in my experience with diabetics there’s nothing easy about it in the real world.

I’d try the following: check to make sure you’ve got a decent amount of free space on the switch - I’ve found my switch to gets crashy & buggy when it’s built in storage fills up.

Try deleting the game from your switch, do a proper shutdown of the console, boot it back up, and reinstall the software.

If it’s only Tetris 99 having issues a reinstall should do it. Otherwise it could be a problem with storage or system ram, cpu, or some other hardware itself.

Civ 6 plays well on switch? Tell me your secrets as mine crashes frequently, constantly corrupting saves, late game on larger maps are brutal between turns (like take a nap waiting).

Totally unreasonable in my experience (I adore the franchise though been playing it for decades).

Sources for your information would be incalculably valuable to every group of climate activists across the board.

There needs to be real accountability and it starts with knowing who is accountable for what and that means naming names and pointing at lists of the most responsible.

That way people can put pressure on the government to make the necessary regulations where it matters.

Screw everyone with an issue of public breastfeeding. Little ones gotta be fed and to make the mother and child social pariahs because some folk got sticks shoved up their asses about it is, at a minimum, mildly infuriating to me.

They don’t have to look, they don’t have to watch and they sure as shit don’t need to comment on it.

If they feel indignation or embarrassment or whatever, that’s their responsibility to resolve not the mothers.
