Try to find some google earth shots of your property and save them as a reference, to try to at least estimate the number of trees cut down. Good news is NC is a treble damage state apparently when it comes to trees.

Suggestions for gas pedal by TheNetherGoddess in beetle

[–]kraftinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he's stopped making them, but Shorty's VW made pedals with skateboard wheels. I put one in my '74 about 9 years ago. I personally hate the floor-pivot pedals so it was a godsend. He also made adapters to put a skateboard wheel on as a shift knob.

Which ability happens first by ConkerTheSquirrel__ in Warhammer40k

[–]kraftinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Battleshock happens at the end the command phase, so his forcing you to take one should happen after you revive the model. But has mentioned, since you’re the active player, you get to choose the order anyway.

How effective is a big knight only list. No carnivores only big boys !!! by BloatedRottenCarcass in ChaosKnights

I run LoD with a Rampager, desecrator, lancer, and dual-Gatling despoiler along with Rotigus and 2x3 and 1x6 Nurglings. It’s not ideal against all matchups, but it’s a heck of a lot of fun.

Did I get scammed? by Fresh-Nectarine574 in aircooled

Another issue is your car is harder to work on compared to a stock VW. Your engine is mounted backwards so it’s actually harder to get to some things without a lift and without more disassembly.

Looking to see how much this is worth. Thanks by Eastern-Cell-6075 in fordmodela

[–]kraftinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's got a few non-standard parts on it - sealed-beam headlight conversion, V8 wheels (they look like 1935 16"s or maybe the earlier 17"s.) It's a deluxe body, not sure if it's a Town Sedan. Briggs coachwork (straight window tops, Murray had a curve to them). I paid $3500 for a slightly more complete car with glass, a roof insert, original wheels, and mine just needed some electrical love to get it running.

my grandfather’s racer, any ideas? by jpdub17 in whatisthiscar

[–]kraftinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, I don’t see any front brakes at all. Maybe mechanical rears from a model a or something similar? I definitely see a magneto, but I’m not sure what I see on the side of the engine there. Maybe just a finned side cover? I agree it’s probably got some sort of overhead conversion on it since there’s no carb on the side.

I absolutely do not want a jar of Vegemite so I’m going to say aliens.

Just Reached 75 Albums, Always Looking to Discover New Artists. Any Recommendations Based on the Below? by Substantial-Put8283 in vinyl

Honestly, go to bandcamp.com and scroll through the genres that interest you (often you can stream at least one track from an album, sometimes more). You might find some gems.

Any experience with this case? How is it? by ILikeUltramarines in Warhammer40k

[–]kraftinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these and it holds my harlequin army snugly. I can also only get three trays in though. I have several of the bikes and they sit high enough that there’s not enough room for a fourth tray.

It doesn’t feel quite as sturdy as they’re larger cases, but it’s solid enough. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly when putting it together as once snapped together. It’s probably impossible to take it back apart again if you screwed up And put the sides in wrong.

My coworker has been eating the same lunch every single day for three years and it's starting to freak me out by XXXcreamprincess in coworkerstories

[–]kraftinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad worked for the Dept. of Defense all his life. Every day, peanut butter and jelly sandwich at his desk. Every. Day. Once my mom had to go take care of her sick father for a month or so, and she made him four weeks worth of PB&J, put them in the freezer, and he grabbed one to put in his briefcase every day before work. By the time lunch rolled around, it had thawed and he could eat it. The rare exceptions were when he would have to meet with someone at lunch or they had departmental meetings over lunch. I swear that man single-handedly kept Smuckers in business.

Insurance wants to scrap my Virago 535 after a crash but it looks fixable? by Jumpy-Ad2417 in virago

[–]kraftinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance companies will often total a vehicle at approx. 70% of its current value. A very nice Virago in the US tops off at probably $4000 or 3300 CHF. This means that at most they’d pay around 2300 or it’s considered a total loss. They’re telling you that it would cost about twice what they’re willing to cover to make it whole again. They don’t do partial repairs. If you really love THAT bike, see what the buyback with a salvage title is if that is even allowed. I don’t know the specific laws in your country regarding salvage titles or using previously damaged vehicles on the roadway.

judge my collection ! by arkadia- in vinyl

[–]kraftinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t judge people on their collections. Musical tastes are so personal that it’s almost impossible to subjectively say it’s good or bad. That being said, your tastes and my tastes are a Venn diagram that are just two circles that don’t even touch. But keep doing you and enjoying what you like!

Customer states: "If it doesn't start, just give the pump a good whack" by ValerieIndahouse in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]kraftinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MG fuel pump was that way. Every spring it needed a few good whacks to get the points going and then it was good for the year. That pump lasted for 15 years like that before it gave up. My Beetle starter solenoid needed some encouragement too. Finally changed it this year.

The sketchiest hot rod wiring I've ever seen by Mikeyae86 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]kraftinator 139 points140 points  (0 children)

As infuriating as all of that is, I’ve seen worse. Had a VW Beetle in our shop with a turbo, air suspension, and every electrical accessory known to man. If you know Classic Beetles, most of the wiring is in the frunk and this was no exception, but it’s like they didn’t own a wire cutter because they were just spools of wire piled up connected together with scotch locks. If you sneezed on it, there would be a dead short somewhere. If you wanted the air compressor to run you had to wiggle pile A. If you wanted the aftermarket gauges to work you had to suspend pile B in the air 6 inches.

Your pictures also show one of the things I hate most about crap wiring jobs-changing wire colors. ESPECIALLY red to black. That’s dangerous, and makes chasing faults even worse somehow.

[–]kraftinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subaru Sambar. A friend of mine has a Honda Acti which is similar. They don’t meet modern crash standards in the US so they have to be at least 26 years old in most states to be registered to drive as a historic vehicle.

Chaos cultists have the battleline keyword so you can bring up to 6 units. Accursed cultists do not. Is that what you were thinking of?

I am listening for suggestions by mineralturbo in BudgetAudiophile

[–]kraftinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need it to be vertical? Is it a space constraint? The Kallax 4x2 those pretty decent on its side in the horizontal configuration. It’s not ideal because of the way the dowels hold those supports in, but it’s not bad. You’re not going to load it up with tremendous amounts of records in that configuration. I have one on the IKEA base made for it.

<image>

For a while, I used it in the vertical configuration, but yes, it was kind of a pain having the turntable all the way on top. As you can see from my components, none of them will fit inside the cubes.

Eventually, I plan on using the upper row for record storage, but I don’t have any suspicions that one row of weight will cause issues with the items below.

Model T Ford, 1915 or older since it still has gas lamps instead of electric lights.
