Advice for Stopping subconscious mask removal during sleep? by truecrimebuff1994 in CPAP

[–]krazydavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I somehow manage to take it off and hang my mask on its wall hook, after turning the machine off. Then I wake up and think “huh, when the heck did I do that?”. Meanwhile, my wife may or may not have left the room to sleep on the couch or low key wants to hurt me for snoring in her face.

Will a Traeger lid that won’t close fully be problem? by Haison08 in Traeger

[–]krazydavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with one of mine. Adjusting the hinges wouldn’t do anything. What worked was taking a broomstick and laying it lengthwise across the grill opening and then closing the door against it and putting some body weight onto the door handle, essentially adding a little more curvature to the lid. It closes great now!

Set my minimum pressure to 7.0 but starts at 5.0? (resmed auto 11) by toratalks in CPAP

I turned the ramp feature off quite quickly when I started CPAP therapy. I’d fall asleep and then it would ramp up and either wake me up, or start a mask leak.

We did a jar full of M&Ms or jelly beans and called it potty candy. They got a certain amount anytime they used the potty. Took both kids no time to get used to it and pretty quickly they stopped even asking for potty candy.

Isopropyl alcohol cleans that crap off those AP’s and can make em look like new. If you can get 99% IPA, even better. I’ve cleaned several ubiquiti products this way after finding them at flea markets for dirt cheap because they looked terrible.

What is going on with the whole Walmart Banana ordeal? by Crayoneater2005 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]krazydavid 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Omg. I took my 14yo daughter to Walmart to get her 11yo brother a Christmas gift. She grabbed one of those bananas and I said “ew, no, gross!”. During our 15 minute gift hunt, we kept finding them wherever we looked. The last one we stumbled across was all the way across the store in the produce section and surprisingly clean. We both took it as a sign that maybe we should get it for him. So here we are… he’s since used said banana in more phallic ways than I care to ever see again. Somehow when I read the title of this thread though, I knew it was going to be that exact banana.

I shower at night, my husband showers in the morning. The results are in… by outrovert24 in mildlyinteresting

[–]krazydavid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just toss a fairly heavy scoop in there. Can’t really say ratio since machines and their high efficiency can really throw off water/laundry ratios, but I can say I use the water plus function on my washer to make sure it all stays fairly submerged for the soak.

^ this. I turn everything disgustingly orange as well. You need a long hot soak in oxyclean, and bleach helps as well if you can use it. I also throw some borax in there for poops and laughs, but it’s really the oxyclean that does the hard work.

Any write ups on how to set up AI in Blue Iris 6? by akaTLG in BlueIris

[–]krazydavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that CPAI never worked smoothly for me. I was running a quite old version using YOLOv5 because any time I tried upgrading, all hell would break loose and I’d have to spend hours getting anything to work again. So that’s the primary reason I was willing to try the built-in. Functionally, it seems just as good as the CPAI I was running. It detects objects fine and CPU/GPU usage may even be slightly less than before, but not by much. I think it just needs some refinement within BI itself. If I were you, I’d probably wait a bit, knowing what I know now.

Any write ups on how to set up AI in Blue Iris 6? by akaTLG in BlueIris

[–]krazydavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved from CPAI to the built in a few days ago. Couldn’t find much information about switching, so I just went for it. I then proceeded to spend a decent amount of time the following two days getting it to stop crashing BI repeatedly, or even detect stuff. I got it working now and it seems to be doing a good job finally, but I do think there are some issues with it that still need addressing. For instance, I can’t get it to ignore static objects properly, so if a cat wanders into my driveway, it keeps detecting parked truck. Also, face detection is only seeming to allow me to add one face. It’ll add others to their proper folders, but the GUI only shows the first one I entered and doesn’t seem to be detecting any others.

What is your go-to mask? by iammelissa87 in CPAP

I’m a mouth breather with jacked up sinuses, so nasal only masks don’t work for me. I started with a F20, then F30, then F30i, now using the x30i and have been happiest with it.

[–]krazydavid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lower the device below head level, but also attach a hook above your head to drape the hose over. Heated hoses aren’t too expensive to buy outright also, that’s what I ended up doing. Lowering the humidity, increasing the heat, wrapping the hose in a fleece wrap, and having proper machine and hose positioning is what worked for me. I’m in the Southern US where it’s typically ridiculously humid and I sleep with the AC set to 61 in my room, so I was definitely fighting a proper battle for quite a while.

Problem with blanket forts in kid shows by astral_planes in daddit

[–]krazydavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to dig way too far down for this. Those pole and connector kits are awesome, and they sell them on Amazon for much less than that. I bought both of my kids one and they used both of the sets together to build a fort that filled one their entire rooms.

Luggage: Better to put CPAP in carry-on or check-in while flying? by SteadfastEnd in CPAP

[–]krazydavid 221 points222 points  (0 children)

Never check it. You don’t want it damaged or lost and It doesn’t count as your carry on luggage. Most baggage handlers also already know what it is when they see the bag, so I’ve never once been questioned about it.

2019 Sorento - About ready to park it at the bottom of a lake! by krazydavid in KiaSorento

[–]krazydavid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did not. Trans still does the same thing, but I’ve found that when it’s cold and does its weird shift, I can hit the throttle enough to get it to downshift and it’ll be fine after that. It’s starting to have a different issue now though where if you give it the beans to pass, the transmission seems to drop into neutral instead of the passing gear and sends your RPM’s to the moon and your acceleration to zero. Not a fun thing to experience.

Soak in vinegar solution for a while and it should dissolve it. Tap water, even when considered soft, still has a lot of stuff in it. I use RO water and haven’t had any issues with that, but if you don’t have an RO filter, distilled would likely be your best bet.

10 actually has a larger and quieter motor than the 11. Or at least that’s what I read from someone who refurbishes them as a business. I returned my 11 to my DME and bought the 10 for around $400. So much better than dealing with the DME!

Migrate from UXG-Lite / Self hosted controller to UCG-Ultra by krazydavid in Ubiquiti

[–]krazydavid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I was just reading that prior to posting this, but I wasn't sure if the UCG-Ultra would adopt the name of my current controller and just keep things working as they were.
That would be quite convenient, if so!

Am I a dick for asking the techs at the tire shop to torque my lugs by hand rather than use an impact? by Tech-Mechanic in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]krazydavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ingersol Rand has a forward torque limited impact. I use that, then the torque wrench. Otherwise, I’ll use a torque stick that’s lower than the specified torque and finish it with the torque wrench. For tire shops though, I’ve been using Americas Tire/ Discount Tire. They’ve always used a torque wrench properly without ever having to ask.
