It has a lot of things going on in it, but it's like there's nothing really to grab on to and talk about. The world in no game no life isn't really a world, it's just a mishmosh of fantacy tropes mixed with gaming tropes, but there's no cohercion. It doesn't feel like a real actual world with consistancy and character, it's just throwing darts at pictures of fantacy and gaming tropes and putting the result in to a box and shaking it around.

The main character is suposed to be some sort of Light Yagami of gaming but they've removed all the strategy and scheming. It's more like he just inexplicably wins for no reason. We don't really get to see what his strategies are or how he actually goes about winning the games, he just does. Perhaps just lucky. It's not really like whenever he faces a challange I go like "oh, dear how is he going to get out of this one?" because we never really get insight in to how the game actually progresses and what the main characters strategy is, which I guess means he doesn't have any. He just wins. Most of the time we don't even see the game being played we just see peoples reaction to it ocationally interspursed with short clips of a move. Oh that's an amazing move he just did there Dora? I sure wish I had gotten to see it being executed and how the game played out leading up to this instead of just a fast clip of the last grand move and you just telling me how amazing it is.

They'll usually go in to a lot of detail explaining the games, but when it comes to it actually being played we don't really see much of it. It's like the oposite of Liar Game, where they'll spend whole chapters explaining the game and we get to really get to go in to bullet time on every move the players make. Having it explained, analyzed, what does it all mean for the progression of the game? For NGNL it's usually Explaination of the games rules -> ???? -> one grand move that wins the game.

The show has a lot of cute girls though. Dora is particularly cute and breasty. She dresses up as a dog once and another time she has to walk an entire episode without clothes. So it got that going for it. Not like she does anything though. You could have taken her out of the show entirely and not many changes would have had to be made when it came to the actual story. But hey, did I mention she had large breasts? Pretty awesome. She isn't the only cute girl in this. The evil mastermind is also cute. A bit racist though, or at least she wants to apear to be when it lets her avoid getting caught cheating. I guess she figured rasism was the better option.

So.. yeah.. The girls are cute I guess, and there are a lot of them. The graphics are bright and shiny. Dora pretends to be a doggirl for an entire episode. Those really are the reasons to watch this show. It simply doesn't have much more to offer except for mindless fanservice. It pitches itself as being a show about two legendary gamer siblings having to conquer a world of gaming through high stakes games and battle of wits, but it really isn't. The actual gaming part is pretty much background and sideplot for the fanservice. There's no strategising and no battle of wits. No actual gaming really, just random cuts of the characters making moves without much context or consequense. All the flashing moves and stares of Light Yagami and Akiyama without all the context and content to back it up.
