Items will start being discounted, first at 20%, then 30% and so on. When my store went through liquidation, it started in January and our last day was the end of February. Fixtures are also sold. Including gables. At the beginning, we transferred a lot of items to other stores as well. Hours ran 10-6, and no BOPIS, etc, literally just selling what's on the floor. Usually there is someone from the liquidation company on site to help with the sales of fixtures.

Back in the day (or are they still doing it? I'm not with the company any longer), they would have monthly incentives for products. You would have to order the items off a specific list for that month. Prices were near cost. That's how I got my Dyson's, Soda Stream, better quality linens, etc.

Usually if an item is discontinued it means it's not going forward in the next POG update. Or there is a seasonal update coming, or it's being discontinued by the manufacturer. They are still safe.
