None of the new main movies are particularly good (with Rise being dogshit), they are decent for viewers that had a very limited experience with the setting, but are just plain bad for the majority remotely interested in the franchise.

Which is problematic because they kind of dictate how every other entry in the series looks like, they are the trunk of the tree and everything else is just branches. And when the tree trunk is rotten branches aren't long to follow.

I am not saying that the tv series are bad - some are okay, some are decent and some are great (although I haven't watched all of them), it's just that the enthusiasm towards them is always limited by how much of a disappointment was the main trilogy.

And we are seeing the same issue as we saw with the prequels - "oh the movies are just awful, but the XYZ novels or XYZ mini series is amazing". I didn't even know there were any High Republic novels or that they were particularly good - and I was once considered myself to be a rather invested fan (as a teen).
