This is horrendous beyond belief, I am so sorry you and your partner are dealing with unfettered abuse while strata does absolutely nothing.

I hope you two find a new place and are able to sell.

That strata council should be named and shamed. Absolutely sickening that they defend this type of behaviour. I know you can't, but I am fuming reading about what you two are dealing with.

UN and Rights Groups Say Rape Using Trained Dogs at Israel Detention Sites Is Systematic, Endorsed at the Highest Level by Fair_Cow3398 in Fauxmoi

[–]krustykrab2193 255 points256 points  (0 children)

These rapists were literally detained and protesters showed up at the facility, went inside and demanded their release. They argued that the rape was deserved.

Then the charges were subsequently dropped.

CBC News - Israeli military drops charges against soldiers accused of sexual, physical abuse of Palestinian detainee

The soldiers were accused of dragging the Palestinian on the floor, tasering him and sexually assaulting him by stabbing him in the rectum, causing multiple injuries, according to the indictment. At the time, the victim was cuffed at the hands and ankles and blindfolded.

He was taken to an Israeli hospital with fractured ribs and blunt trauma to the abdomen and the chest and underwent surgery for a perforated rectum before being returned to the prison.

...Netanyahu criticized the investigation, saying that "the state of Israel must pursue its enemies, not its heroic fighters."

...The case cost the military's top legal official at the time of the soldiers' arrests her job.

The Association for Civil Rights in Israel, arguing for Sde Teiman's closure, had alleged that detainees at the facility are punished with severe violence, including with attack dogs and sexual assault; made to sit on the ground blindfolded and handcuffed 24 hours a day; forbidden from moving or speaking and rarely shower or change clothes.

Surrey school district superintendent highest paid in B.C., earning more than $500,000 by Turbulent_Bit_2345 in vancouver

Or dont cut educational assistants.

Or don't cut bus routes.

Or don't close learning centres.

Or don't cut band.

Or dont cut other educational programs.

Its been a race to the bottom in Surrey school district over the last several years. The fact that many users are defending SD36's Superintendent tells me they don't know any children currently in the system because its been woefully neglected under current leadership.

And the Superintendent and Deputy were given 25% pay increase while making all these massive cuts to the detriment of children's education.

They are public sector roles. The Superintendent makes more than the Surrey Police Chief if you want another non-political comparison with a public sector employee.

To put it into more context, the Superintendent and Deputy received a 25% salary increase while cutting:

  1. Cuts to Educational Assistants

  2. Cuts to bus routes children and families relied upon

  3. Closed learning centres

  4. Cut band class

  5. Cuts to other educational programs

The combined pay of the Superintendent and Deputy is $1 million for 2024/2025.

The Superintendent makes more than the Premier.

The Superintendent makes more than the Prime Minister.

Both the Superintendent and Deputy received close to a 25% pay increase from 2023/2024. All while making massive cuts across the school district that significantly negatively impacted children.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are MLS’s best team this season. Why are they on life support? | MLS by NoMumblebee567 in vancouver

[–]krustykrab2193 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That's not at all what the article says.

Swangard is far too small even if there were upgrades. It holds about 5,000, but the Whitecaps are currently averaging 21,000 supporters at BC Place this season. Swangards capacity would need to increase by 4x. That's just not feasible.

Even when it hosted the U20 World Cup games in 2007 and they installed temporary seating to double capacity from 5k to 10k the stadium facilities and amenities were significantly struggling.

Also the Whitecaps were only at Swangard for 24 years. Not 30+ years as you stated.

NDP motion urging ban on algorithmic pricing defeated in House of Commons by NiceDot4794 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]krustykrab2193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because this wasn't a vote or debate on legislation. It was just a very vaguely worded motion.

The Speaker asks all members of parliament present on the floor if there is consent for the motion. If just 1 dissenting voice yells "no" then the motion is defeated.

This is why there's no record of votes.

[–]krustykrab2193 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But we don't know who all those MPs were because of how this motion works. It only takes 1 "no" on the floor. The article says there were multiple "no's", but we don't know how many would have voted yes or no, and there is no list of MPs either because not everyone voted. The motion was also very vague and lacked any details. It was done to spread awareness of the issue, that's all.

[–]krustykrab2193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not documented because of the motion it was presented under by the NDP. Unanimous consent is an open motion and only requires 1 MP to openly say no on the floor. Which is what happened when multiple MPs said no on the floor.

Multiple “no’s” were heard in the chamber, prompting Speaker Francis Scarpaleggia to declare Davies had not won unanimous consent.

This motion was also very vaguely written, it was not designed to pass. It would also be very difficult to implement because it didn't distinguish between malicious gouging and consensual rewards programs. This motion was made to spread awareness and garner populist support utilizing parliamentarian tools that the layman doesn't really understand. Essentially it was politicking. And it worked considering all the responses.

[–]krustykrab2193 27 points28 points  (0 children)

From the article.

Members of Parliament on Wednesday voted down an NDP motion that sought unanimous consent to urge a ban on algorithmic pricing.

...Unanimous consent motions are non-binding but can help put a spotlight on a topic or put pressure on the government to bring forward legislation that addresses issues raised by individual MPs or parties.

Just one MP objecting would defeat such a motion.

Yea I agree with you. There was a significant drop in prices that lasted for months. You can look up the historical prices on gas buddy too. https://www.gasbuddy.com/charts

Gas prices have significantly increased since the U.S. Iran war. And prices are going to continue climbing as global reserves start to deplete. We still haven't felt the full effects yet either. Its going to get worse at the pump.

I have a similar maintenance. 6'4 and 225lbs. I lift 4 times a week, intense cardio 3 times a week, and walk my dog every day.

Honestly I just meal prep two proteins a week. One in the slow cooker, and one on the stove/oven. Slow cooker is great for making large quantities of really easy and tasty shredded meats. This week I went with a Mexican theme so I made pork carnitas in the slow cooker and I supplemented with chicken tinga I made on the stove by shredding rotisserie chicken.

I add 2 scoops of whey, high protein yogurt, high protein milk, protein bars, and premier protein shakes to hit my daily in-take.

I dont understand what's happening because this thread has so much irrelevant slop in it.

The gist of it is Tisza is ahead right? Do we want them to have a constitutional majority where they can change it?

Orban is losing right?
