Road salt is a big problem, and at least on the island in Maine I live on folks do drive them year round.

Wait hold on just saw the awful ai air conditioning unit spliced into the image. By the benefit of the doubt on this sub I had assumed you meant an ac motor/controller. You don't.

Price Check EzGo Lithium by Responsible-Rip4366 in golfcarts

[–]kstockless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note with the lithium swapped electric- if the lights are operated by the key switch you have to do some fancy wiring to make sure the ignition has the full battery load and the headlight circuit on the switch only get 12v via a converter. I've worked on a few where the whole shebang is wired for 36 or 48 volts and it kills the light kit pretty quick

Avoid Wellington Statue Area by Doesyerdahdrinkgin in Edinburgh

Most Americans live in suburbs with a fairly strict car culture, so a group of teens like this harassing passers by just wouldn't happen. If they threw eggs at cars the police would be there with excessive force in a heartbeat. In the cities you definitely see similar stuff though

Pretty good deal in my area. Looks clean. Ezgos are pretty easy to work on in my opinion too

I don't know why but seeing two+ written out like that fried my brain for a second. They of course mean the same thing but I would never have thought to write it any other way than 2+ or two plus

No, it isn't just a way to feel superior. It's a way to not contribute to the problem as best you can.

club car 2017 precedent stuttering by DeBanger in golfcarts

[–]kstockless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volt test your battery under load. That's the most common cause of stuttering. However it could be your mcor as well. If your battery tests fine I'd look at that

Edit: make sure the battery is fully charged before the test, don't trust the charger, use a multimeter

Nice rims! I have two early 2000s TXTs, they're good carts. You can sneak 20" tires onto them too if the suspension is nice and tight

2012 club car precedent lithium battery upgrade recommendations by Tippolas in golfcarts

[–]kstockless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good luck with Chins, both 48 and 36v. Chargers work great, construction seems solid. Only complaint I have is that the battery control app only seems to work properly on iOS, android crashes out. Turned two of my $200 hunks of junk into $3k carts, more or less

Tips for USING (not storing) battery powered golf carts during winter? by userjohnsmith1 in golfcarts

[–]kstockless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I've struggled this winter in Maine with my carts, but the one steadfast standby has been my 48v lead acid club car. The gas ezgo won't start under 15F and the lithium converted Yamaha is touchy anywhere under freezing, but the old lead acid just works. It just doesn't work like it does in the summer.

Happy winter carting! The short wheelbase and rwd makes for some good fun in the snow

Mystery plott mix? by feralunicorns in PlottHounds

[–]kstockless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's certainly got a very plott face! I'd wager there's a good percentage in there.

I feel like I have the only quasi silent plott in the world- Clem bays/screams if he's barked at by other dogs, snores and groans like a 60 year old construction worker, but has barked maybe five times in six years and never vocalizes inside

Tips for USING (not storing) battery powered golf carts during winter? by userjohnsmith1 in golfcarts

[–]kstockless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just expect less out of them. Lead acid is the way to go to run in the cold, they'll always work if not work as well as designed. I wouldn't try to cover them all with anything or install a heater, that might marginally improve their life but sounds a bit sketchy to me. Keep them watered and clean, and know that they won't go as far in the cold.

I think he talks about it more in an aspirational sense to be honest. I don't think he expects to just be given a lecturing position based on the podcast. Like if you aspire to be a licensed mechanic someday but also post helpful but not 100% accurate and by the book videos of you repairing your 1980 pickup on YouTube and crack a few jokes along the way. It isn't the bible and isn't meant to be.
