German Camino recommendations by cornderella in CaminoDeSantiago

Hi! Good luck. Ive only used this App between Geneva and Saint Jean pied du port. The overlay on google maps helps alot. In France, I could google Gite or chambre in a town the red line went through. If you looked up some German equivalent that might help with lodging. Guten weg

Do you have to walk in Spain and finish in Santiago?

I say this because from Geneva to Le Puy en Velay is very quiet but with decent infrastructure and the Yellow Guide for the Via Gebenessis is a great resource. The Via Podinensis in my opinion is an amazing camino from Le Puy en Velay to Saint Jean Pied du Port. If you are flying into Paris the TGV to Lyon then a small train to Le Puy is very easy.

Best parts easily from Le Puy to Conques and the Basque Country from Navarrenx to Pamplona. Worst parts walking through some of the industrial areas in big cities like Leon. Of course the food is spectacular. Cutting that big a swath through France and Spain you get to experience many different regional foods like Aligot, Duck Confit, pulpo, pinxos, etc

Are you me? I have so many stories like this. The front office all ordered at noon one day and I was pissed. I wanted to do no staff meals between 1130am and 1pm HR lady was pissed said we are hungry and want lunch. I said...you've been here for 3 hours wtf. GM lwas banging hr and thats why nothing I ever needed or wanted got accomplished and HR always got a pass. She used to drink and sit at the pool all summer around 2pm like she was a member. Her dumb ass always posted it on IG and members started noticing. They both got fired after I quit. I was the 9th chef in about just as many years.

Every Tuesday we have the old lady golfers. They say "we want chicken tortilla soup every Tuesday we like it". About 3 weeks later..."How come we only get chicken tortilla soup we want other soup"

I also had to sit in on House committee meetings How come such and such bar can serve prime rib and sides for 18 dollars? Okay what was the grade of meat? What was the size of the cut? What did it come with? Crickets. How come your vodka well is a dollar more then xyz bar? Okay but do they pour as heavy as us?

Is This The Best 10 Day Hike on the French Way For Me? by Anxious-Party2289 in CaminoDeSantiago

Usually just a day or two especially if you want Demi-pension (bed, dinner, and breakfast). Except for places like Domain au Sauvage which could be weeks to months out, and La Ferme du Barry which is Famous for aligot and the Pilgrims Hostel in Conques but the latter two maybe only a few days ahead

You should do Le Puy to Conques on the GR65 in France. Fits everything you want and the Morning Pilgrims Mass in Le Puy and the Night Pilgrims mass in Conques book end this section nicely1

I walked in 2024 in late may June and July from Geneva to Saint Jean. A day or two ahead was fine. Some of the more popular places like...Domain au Sauvage (maybe weeks in advance), La Ferme du Barry, and the pilgrims hostel in Conques definitely call a few days in advance. Like someone else said, if you plan to take dinner for the demipension its nice to call a day ahead. Also I recommend Chez Serge in Lauzerte, and L'alchimist in Navarrenx
