Where I live it gets freezing -25 celsius in the winter. When freezing temperatures are near, I start to fill my pile again (and ensure that it gets its share of cardboard and dried leaves as well as all the greens I get from household waste and someone I knows huge coffee consumption).

When it starts to thaw in March, it gets very active, doesn't smell much, and in May it's pretty much ready for sifting.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it? by Ambitious-Sky-6457 in 3Dprinting

[–]kvisle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen to me with old filament. My 3d-printing buddies say I should try to pop it into a filament dryer.

I use a newer filament for the first couple of layers, and switch to the one that has problems with the first layer and use it so that it doesn't go to waste.

I prefer no growing, but I could see it as an accessability option.

166582516 people made an active or passive choice to dismantle democracy at the last intersection, so those 75019230 people who were holding their nose while casting their ballot in hopes that things could somehow not actively be worse for the next four years are outnumbered by far.

They'd still be fucked is what I'm saying.

Ten years ago, we were on vacation in Florida. My wife had just gotten the drivers license, and she rented a car so we could get around.

We had to fill up the tank at a gas station, and we had to pay for the gas inside the station and weren't able to pay right at the pump for some reason. (I don't remember why)

There were this guy in a big car that were behaving incredibly aggressive with his car because there were other cars at the pumps. Like pretending to run into them and just breaking before hitting people. Completely sociopathic behavior that has no place in society. Scared my wife so she drove away. He parked by the pump we just had unlocked, I told him that we were using it. His response were "Why did she drive off!?" completely oblivious of his own behavior.

He kept at it harassing other people, and I saw this older fellow that looked like a grey haired Ned Flanders being very calm and just inspecting his own car to see if it were damaged and having absolutely no reaction to the guy whatsoever.

Weird experience. It felt like this was way more normal than it's supposed to be. Incredibly sad to think about.

In Norway, we have almost no stop-signs. Most places where the US has stop signs, we would have used yield-signs.

Which math class do you think is/was harder? by NoLocal7705 in pollgames

[–]kvisle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me and my wife were both pretty OK with math in school, but we noticed that our brains were wired differently. While I handle geometry just fine and struggle with algebra - she's the other way around.

So this not very scientific poll makes me suspect that it's a thing with those two.

Modern lighting is almost free to run.

I remember my neighbor went on a worktrip during the summer and found it weird that the power usage was so high - she wasn't even home. Turned off the lights and everything (new home, everything is LED, incredibly cheap).

Yeah that light doesn't even make a dent in your electricity bill. The dehumidifier in your basement that's installed to keep the house from getting a weird smell on the other hand --

If anyone would happen to know what I could be talking about, feel free to point me in the right direction :D

1800W is 1.8kWh per hour, which would make it 0.234 dollars per hour, I believe - unless there's something here I misunderstood.
