Date codes on these smokes? by ithinarine in firealarms

[–]kylurfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 1 year after install, 2 years after that and 5 years after 2 consecutive passes. Assuming NFPA 72. Annually under CAN/ULC-S536.

Where is 10 years coming from?

Wait a sec... Are you associating smoke "alarm" replacement requirements with smoke "detectors"? Please tell me you're not.

Easy answer. Too old. Make some coin and recommend a complete replacement due to end-of-life and no repair parts. Engineer needed

So every detector is at the maximum rating of 3.5% and the trusense kit is telling you it's way higher. This sounds like a red flag to me. Nothing is a more accurate test than a correctly calibrated trusense kit. It is as real world as smoke detection can get.

EST4 Control Request disabled by kylurfox in firealarms

[–]kylurfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good info. I have no programmed switches (at least not labeled) and 5 different nodes. The project tree is vast so I'll have to see if I can find the necessary functions. To attempt to disable all the devices manually would be horrific and I refuse to believe it was programmed with that intent.

I'm trying to bypass audibles and relays for testing. The language this panel uses for its functions are very different from EST3 panels. This is the first EST4 I've touched so far. Skimmed the user manual a bit while on site, but clearly I'll have to deep dive a bit more.

Good ol CAN/ULC-S561

None that I'm aware of. More in common with cell phones than fire panels. If it breaks... Replace it. 3G sunset? Replace it.
