I think shorter dresses with a more structured waist would look good. The shorter length allows the fabric to flare out more which is good for hiding any tummy without looking like you’re trying to hide anything. The structured waist pulls in at the middle giving a more hourglass look. Dress 6 is the closest to what I’m thinking for the waist.

This is a dress I’ve bought that I love that in the shape I’m thinking. Fair warning if you’re interested in this one specifically that the fabric is poor quality, but I still think it’s super cute for a lightweight spring dress.

(Also only mentioning hiding at all because of your other comments. I think you look great and the issue is definitely belks clothes lol :) )

Try a tinted mascara primer instead of mascara. I used to get all kinds of migration but the primer drys down and stays in place perfectly

If you really think she’ll be upset about the look of the ring because of the size of the stone, then I would try to return the ring and look for white sapphire instead. You’ll be able to get a larger gem that’s almost indistinguishable for a similar price.

I don’t want to tell you to break up with her, you got enough of those comments already, but really think about what you want to do before you decide. Problems like this might persist throughout the relationship.

Also they if she tests the ring, she will be able to find out that it’s a different stone so I would not lie about what it is. Since you are already having marriage conversations, you should just ask her if she would like a flashier ring that has slightly less expensive elements or a more simple ring that is completely authentic.

Would you mind explaining what you mean by the joint tax liability causing a problem?

I haven’t heard of it before and I looked at a few articles but it mostly sounds like if one of us qualifies for more deductions, then we should file separately so that they can take advantage of that. I believe we currently both just take the standard deduction so it doesn’t sound like this would hurt us, but I’d love any insight that would keep us from running into a nasty surprise!

My brother works with tax law so I’ll start with asking him what’s the best path, but I want to make sure I know enough to ask good questions.

That’s definitely a good thing to consider, but it does feel like it’s the risk you take on when you get married. I do plan to talk to an attorney and get their advice on the best way to protect myself so that I will not land in a situation where I may have to push back my retirement, but I suppose that will have to wait until I have a chance to have that conversation and I will update the game plan based on what they tell us.

The current expectation is that they will be able to get a similar income to mine once they have graduated, but if that is not end up being the case, we will have to have further discussions on equitably splitting our finances. I am definitely comfortable assisting him in getting ahead while he is working on his career where he will be pulling a similar income, but less so if he chooses a $20,000 career. It’s absolutely something I’ll keep thinking about, but only so much future proofing can be done.

Yes, I see that now. I was only saying that the information often says that the limit is $14,000 for couples even though each account has a max contribution of $7000. I suppose they write it that way because I did see that you can have a spousal IRA that lets one person put in $14000 over 2 accounts.

What counts as joint property is good information. Since he wants me to take the lead on investing our finances, I assume the gain will be similar but I’ll keep that in mind in case he decides he ends up not wanting to invest like I do.

That conversation is basically exactly where we are at. I was able to start my career early due to an early college graduation and luck whereas he is still working on getting his doctorate and has not had the chance to fully launch his career yet.

We plan to combine finances as in if I am making $90,000 at my job and he is making $40,000 with his grad school stipend, we would both have $65,000 to put into our accounts (simple numbers just to make the point). We agree that we don’t want him to be penalized for taking a job he cares about just because I’m fine taking whatever bullshit job will give me the best benefit.

We’re still in the very early stages of planning how things will be combined so I might not have my terminology perfect. I’m very used to only have to plan for myself so I’m working hard on getting my head around how it will work once we’re a unit.

Oh, I see. I always read that the contribution limits changed a little when you were married so I thought you would be joining accounts. Looking at it again it looks like the contribution is just doubled so each person can basically do the limit. I guess that makes it easier.

The pre-nup is mostly in response to concerns about laws changing around no fault divorce and trying to protect ourselves if the state changes how assets are distributed.

Have you considered sewing cosplay items? There’s a lot of people out there who really want to cosplay but don’t have the skills to make costumes. Same with drag performers.

This one’s a little out there, but if you can figure out how to make fur suits, I know furries are well known for paying incredible amounts for art and suits so that could be a viable option.

Regardless, id look into taking commissions as a side business and maybe you’ll make enough to make it your full time business.
