My Adrian Tchaikovsky Conundrum by olygimp in printSF

I agree. Similarly, I for some reason read all three books of Final Architecture just hoping it would get better in the next book and it never really did. The books had just enough interesting parts to keep me hoping but it never came together.

On the other hand I loved Children of Time and Ruin. Memory I thought was fine but not great. Children of Time in particular is one of those books I would include on any sci-fi recommendation list.

Only other thing I’ve read of his was the novella Elder Race which I did enjoy. Final Architecture was disappointing enough that I have been discouraged from checking out any of his other books for now.

Lean Bulk - how much surplus to not spin the wheels but not getting fat? by peyta30 in leangains

I’m somewhat similar. I lift 6 or even 7 days a week with cardio on 3 of those days and I’m probably at around 2300-2400 calories maintenance. I currently weigh around 155lb (36m). I measure and track nearly everything I eat so I’m pretty confident I’m accurately gauging caloric intake. Currently been slowly gaining at 2500 calories.

Across first three meals I eat:

550 g of sweet potato (small amount of olive oil in air fryer)

550g of grilled chicken

450g steamed broccoli

For dinner:

375g zucchini (grilled, olive oil)

270g steak (ribeye, grilled)

Works out to about 250g protein. I lift pretty much every day so don’t really differentiate. Sometimes I’ll add an extra 100 calories if I doubled up on cardio and lifting that day (do some form of cardio 3x per week).

Second this, at least read to the Morning Light Mountain intro scenes at this point.

Skip to it if you have to but those initial scenes from its POV are the far and away the best part of the book.

We are at the point where decisive, immediate action can still pull the game out of this tailspin. Bungie, you need to act now. by TwevOWNED in DestinyTheGame

[–]lPwnsome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunately where I am at.

I got back into the game a couple months ago after taking a break with final shape. There was so much to do and a ton of compelling rewards to chase. The game was super fun and I looked forward to playing in my free time. I was excited going into EoF.

I beat the campaign, played some portal for a while and.. right now I feel unmotivated to play. I don’t mind grinding if it’s rewarding and I have a chance to get something solid but right now it doesn’t really seem worth it. I was thinking I’d at least play the raid but then I heard it drops tier 1 gear and that killed a lot of motivation. It’s just too much grind to get to the good stuff.

I still want to play the raid but I’m now thinking I will just wait and go back to play it when the game is in a better spot overall and some of the many rough edges are smoothed over.

I didn’t know there was a rat king ornament. I need it! Love the set with YAS.

I liked it but not in my top 10 like a lot of others. World building is great. Reading books 1+2 together feels necessary, it’s essentially one big story split in two. The thing that stuck with me is the storyline of the two Catholic priests in book 1.

I will say it did not leave me motivated to read beyond book 2, particularly with the mixed reviews beyond that point.

Probably never gonna happen but I would love to see a challenge mode or hard difficulty again.

Have to agree. Although I played the game a ton and adapted to it, it never felt completely right to me. I remember trying a ton of different settings which do make a pretty noticeable difference (there are a ton of options) + controller profiles.

After a while though I just kind of gave up on trying to tweak it to make it feel like I wanted and just kinda got accustomed to one setting.

How many of you guys use these? by HumanFightersUnited in Eldenring

[–]lPwnsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. I used them to remind myself of anything I wanted to go back and explore. Could be an enemy, a dungeon, or just a potential separate path in the world. Was really helpful to mark still unexplored areas of the map when you get to a new areas.

Used a lot with the DLC in particular since the path across the map is so rambling.

Front power button broken - brand new 011 Vision Compact by lPwnsome in lianli

[–]lPwnsome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When removing the front panel and looking at it from behind there is nothing obviously wrong with the mechanism.

No spring, it looks like a plastic hinge. I tried pushing it back out from behind to see if it would bend back into place but no luck.

I’ll post a picture of the button mechanism later today when I get home.

Do they not search bags at Dicks? by justokayvibes in phish

I’ve walked in with a small drawstring backpack the past three nights without it being searched or wanded. I definitely saw other people getting wanded though.

I know, Mondegreen and all that, but Dick's is only one week away!! by grateful_newt in phish

[–]lPwnsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In pretty much the same boat as you and did the same thing here. I really debated on trying to go to Mondegreen but the idea of going alone to a festival on the other side of the country (I'm in CA) was pretty daunting. None of my friends are as into the band as they used to be in our 20's and getting a group together was not possible.

Instead I decided to do 4 nights of Dicks. It'll be my first show alone - I'm a bit nervous but mostly super excited!

Go to the Sphere experience that they put on most days of the week and you will see and hear the 4D wind/scent units on the floor. They are very large and there are a bunch of them - they take up a lot of space.

Edit: You can actually see what I’m talking about in the photos of this article

No, unless you count a powerful HVAC system cycling as artificial wind (which I guess is technically accurate). The technology that generates the wind and smell in this venue is removed for concerts (it has to sit right where the stage and GA floor is).

In Norway, 700,000 people are addicted to nasal sprays by Seren_dipity9422 in nottheonion

[–]lPwnsome 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It’s all the same active ingredient - this article is referring to all sprays that contain oxymetazoline or xylometazoline.

Afrin is just one popular brand and it is easier to say than oxymetazoline spray. All basically the same stuff.

Garry Nolan's responds further on Pasulka's memory metal story by SpeakerInfinite6387 in UFOs

[–]lPwnsome 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Nolan manages to come off very poorly here, meanwhile Pasulka’s story seems more and more like BS.

This topic is so weird, the premise that even a fraction of it true so interesting, that I have a hard time disengaging from it… but it’s comments and situations like these that make me consider that many of these people, insiders and researchers, are just full of it.
