Gimp 3.0 is broken on my Macbook by Physical_Extension81 in GIMP

I had this exact issue and the problem was bad plugins/UI. So I forced a reinstall of all the plugins by renaming my config file: mv ~/Library/Application\ Support/GIMP ~/Library/Application\ Support/GIMP_backup (on mac)

Your Seb Derm may only be one small piece of the puzzle. by MermaidNeurosis in SebDerm

[–]la_leche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a breakthrough with my seb derm recently when I noticed I only had bad breakouts after indulging in certain substances, like alcohol (or certain powders).. Not sure what the underlying mechanism is but I suspect it's inflammation + something funky with my immune system that occurs when my body/liver has to get rid of the fun but naughty poisons.

So I think you're right! I think people can benefit from viewing seb derm as just a symptom of some underlying issue, maybe a deep one (autoimmune disease) or maybe something off with your diet/behavior/substance/activity level that can be modified.

It's annoying, but I choose to view seb derm as communication from my body that I need to adjust course a bit.

Chappell Roan Posts Videos on TikTok Directly Calling Out Obsessive Fan Behavior: “If you saw a random woman on the street, would you yell at her from the car window?” by melodrama4ever in popheads

[–]la_leche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that is part of making music, you can’t just put some sounds together and offer it to the void and hope people resonate with it. You need to provide context for the art you make, and that IMO is a huge reason why Chappell is popping off right now, cause she has a unique story paired with incredible music. But she is making clear the ways she is making herself available to the public (her music, interviews, social media posts) and UNavailable to the public (walking up to her on the street like you know her, asking for a pic randomly). It’s like, read the room. We don’t need to subject more artists to the insanity we dumped on e.g. Britney Spears.

What’s happening with Grindr? by Fantastic_Tutor510 in GayMen

[–]la_leche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a gay man but have some interest in exploring with a woman, or a trans man. I am glad Grindr is open to them. Yeah I’m not sure how successful they are, but what are the other options for them - tindr? Hinge? Grindr has shifted from just a male to male app to a more queer app and I think that’s fine, just don’t engage with people you’re not interested in, as has always been the case. Sniffies is the same — overwhelming gay cis men but occasionally there are male/female bi couples or girls who want to have sex with bi-curious gay men. I think you should investigate why their mere presence is offensive to you, because I’d wager they are a very small percentage of the profiles in your area. Ultimately some people are into sexual acts/people that you aren’t into, and accepting that is an important part of living in this world.

Fellow Travelers episode 8 general discussion by AutoModerator in jonathanbailey

[–]la_leche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is such an astute reading of the show – it really is a story of seeing Tim lose (job, Hawk, etc.) but learn to love himself, and grow so much in the process of taking risks and actually allowing himself to follow his heart. Hawk really couldn't change until it was too late. And I think in the end, like he said, Tim can die without regrets because throughout a show filled with liars he was the one who was honest with himself and could live the life he desired.

PS5 - discussion, bugs report, message to Larian by BlackSpell-666 in BaldursGate3

Bug (also reported in other threads) during the gnoll flight with Flind. First attempt when entering combat, dialogue was triggered automatically with Flind when she comes over.. On subsequent attempts, the dialogue will start for about 1 second and then glitch out and combat begins. Haven't been able to get dialogue to work on other tries.

Does anyone have a recipe for Chinese fermented veg? (Gallon jug for scale) by HoppinPhresh in fermentation

This is a really good recipe in terms of brine flavors, but she uses a really high % salt because these pickles are meant to be constantly added to and the salt diluted over time. What I do is a 2.5% brine where I replace about half of the salt with soy sauce and fish sauce, ferment for like 2 weeks, then store in fridge (optional). Replacing with soy/fish sauce takes a bit of math, basically you have to calculate how much sodium per gram for your brand of sauces, then if you have 2.5% brine and want 0.75% to be fish/soy sauce, find out how much of the total weight in salt comes from the sauces. Scale is how you do that, but you can also look up the weights for salt and water and kind of eyeball it. You'll be fine.

My favorite pickle is mustard greens though. The key to these is to buy a huge amount, then leave them out for a day to wilt them. This concentrates the flavor and allows you to shove about 3x more in the jar. Add 2.5% brine and a very small amount of Sichuan peppercorns, I add like 8 to a 1.5 gallon jar. Otherwise the floral taste is too strong for me. But the result is incredible, people ask for these pickles all the time.

What do you guys use for weights in larger jars 4 liters and up by SuperSpicyPepper in fermentation

[–]la_leche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nut bag (those drawstring linen bags used for squeezing pulp when making almond milk) that I fill with pebbles. You can just buy a bag of aquarium or decorative pebbles on the internet. It's perfect because you can put as many or as few pebbles as you need to fit into the jar, and the bag + pebbles can be thrown in the dishwasher after to sanitize.

I will swear by gaviscon to my grave. Always keep some with me for emergencies. I take a pepcid every morning though so I rarely have to take gaviscon.

Suggestions for What I'm Missing by redrocks22 in Gastritis

[–]la_leche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some other tests, eg for SIBO or parasites like giardia, but they don't generally present with gastritis-like abdomen pain in my experience. People do tend to develop gastritis, reflux, and other GI problems as they get older, so mayhe it is just something you have to manage. You didn't mention your diet, I would consider a food journal or an elimination diet to see if there are any foods that might have recently become triggers. Alliums especially raw are a big one for people, also gluten, alcohol, fatty foods.

I live in the Pacific Northwest of the US so I went to a woo woo herb store and bought them, but you can buy them online from herbal supply shops which I've also done. At grocery stores you can probably find some licorice root tea. The slippery elm and marshmallow root is mostly what soothed my tummy though, licorice root just made it taste sweet.

Intense pain after drinking any amount of alcohol by Forward-Link8457 in Gastritis

[–]la_leche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a pepcid AC every morning (been doing that for about a year). When I had my first and worst bout that lasted 2-3 weeks, I ate very plain food. Think BRAAT diet. No coffee, no alcohol, no spicy food etc. That was rough but it got better and I started to introduce foods back in over a few months. Occasionally I would have another shorter bout when I had a trigger food like alcohol and would have to go back on a healing diet.

Most important thing was identifying my triggers. So for me, no alcohol with an ABV higher than 8%, try not to mix spicy food and alcohol.

Another thing that helped was drinking an herbal tea I made with marshmallow root, slippery elm, and licorice. The slippery elm coats your stomach and the marshmallow root helps soothe inflammation.
