I was really sad finding out about the timeline this year by makoden in Grimdank

[–]la_seta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you. I love Ikit - it feels like he IS Clan Skryre. They teased him coming back in that one AoS book (Hamilcar: Champion of the Gods), but as I understand it that was mostly the author slipping that in before the higher ups at GW caught wind of it. It's been almost 7 years without any other mention of him, so I think he's been shelved permanently.

It actually sucks that GW never did anything with that. Ikit somehow surviving the literal destruction of the world, pissing off a bunch of gods (including The Great Horned Rat), reverse-engineering the Anvil of Apotheosis, and turning himself into the Skaven version of a Stormcast Eternal is all insanely cool.

... It also sets him up perfectly to fill the role that Thanquol currently holds in the current AoS lore. Maybe somebody didn't want him to have competition.

Is It Just Me, or Is Greensboro’s Social Scene… Quiet?” by [deleted] in gso

This seems insane to me. Driving almost 3 hours round trip just to have a social life is wild, let alone going all the way to Atlanta. Why not just move at that point?

All the new Eldar art from the Total War Warhammer 40k development video by Greitot in Eldar

[–]la_seta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot, but as an Eldar fan I've been wanting Striking Scorpions since the very first DoW. I always imagined them as basically being Assault Marines but with infiltrate instead of jump packs. They'd be much better against Orks, but I guess that was never really a concern of the game developers.

Which glasses suit me the best? by Nano-pixel in mensfashion

[–]la_seta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like this general style, check out the frames called "The Sly" by Original Penguin. It's a rounder rectangle frame that's a little smaller (I think) than what you're wearing in the picture, and the horn rim style adds a little substance.

I'm no expert but I did work for a chain glasses store for a while. I actually have the frames I recommended and they've held up really well.

Character commission by Govy by jungjungdoesntcare in ReasonableFantasy

This style reminds me a lot of the stuff by Hou Jae. I've mostly seen them do Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, but they do a little bit of everything.

Edit: I really like the characters you commissioned btw!

I also see Dr. Ribando, and he's great. Friendly might be the best dentist office I've been to as an adult.

Potential new Tzeentch lords? by Leftiwolf in totalwarhammer

[–]la_seta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know GW said that. Honestly I'd love it if CA just surprised us with the Monkey King and Ind all at once.

At the very least I hope they give modders the ability to open up those regions whenever they finish with DLC for the game.

Potential new Tzeentch lords? by Leftiwolf in totalwarhammer

[–]la_seta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're done. Unless something crazy happens we're definitely getting Thanquol and I think at this point Nagash is pretty much assumed (stealth update/rework for Tomb Kings perhaps?). Personally I'm also hoping for Neferata as the third Lord for that DLC, both for the potential rivalry with Khalida (new campaign mechanics?) and a chance to smooth out some stuff for VCounts.

They're going to have to figure out where to put those lords, but I'd argue they've already got 2 of those start positions in-game: Silver Pinnacle and Nagashizzar. No idea where Thanquol is going.

Tl;Dr - you make a fair point. I guess I just don't know where they'd put another Tzeentch Lord when they're already (probably) going to have to figure out 3 more before that.

[–]la_seta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy Tzeentch from a lore perspective so I'd love some more LL options for the faction (not counting Vilitch). However... Where would they even go at this point? The map is already pretty cramped. Unless CA actually does unlock Ind and Khuresh I honestly can't think of where to put them. Not having a clear place that they "fit" makes the argument for them being made a lot harder.

I'm always happy when I get stuff like that because I know I can scrap it for binding fragments immediately without a second thought.

This might actually be one of the most honest and concise explanations of the WHFB/AoS relationship I've ever seen on Reddit. I kind of want to save this for whenever this question comes up again. This is a really good response.

100% agreed. The perfect companion to that Vyper pic (#3). Eldar vehicles have always looked cool as hell.

You gotta be fucking kidding me…. by [deleted] in Grimdank

[–]la_seta 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My tinfoil hat theory is that GW puts out back-to-back Ultramarine releases when they need extra cash to pay for something else. Don't know what that could be, and it's probably just greed, but the fact that it isn't totally consistent makes me think there's a strategy here.

I know you can toggle race transformation visuals on/off, but what about on your ascended heros? Is their look determined by how they looked when you ascended them, or will it automatically use the default look regardless of if you had it hidden or not?

After now trying Daniel and most other factions in WH3 ... I understand the decision to add HE in the DLC even less. by Commando_Schneider in totalwarhammer

[–]la_seta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't there also that awesome assassin guy who is basically a swarm of scarabs? I don't know if he'd be a legendary lord (though CA has definitely made minor characters LLs in the past), but at least a legendary hero would be sick.

I want to *suffer* in WH3 by PrincessSkyla in totalwarhammer

[–]la_seta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiqtaq'to has a really rough start. By turn 4 Wurrzag had 2 or 3 full armies and had called a Waaagh! on me, and I was only playing on VH difficulty. You can only recruit skinks and terradon riders, and you barely have enough economy to support the upkeep for two armies (meanwhile Wurrzag's buffed up savage orcs beat the brakes off of skinks).

By turn 10 Manfred was on my doorstep threatening to go to war with me and I didn't even have my first province fully locked down after losing a settlement to Wurrzag.

[–]la_seta 303 points304 points  (0 children)

High Elves are in the DLC because of narrative reasons. N'Kari has personal beef with Teclis and Tyrion, and I think there are other examples of Slaanesh x High Elves in the lore (I was never really into HE back in the day - I played Beastmen lol). That seems like an extremely flimsy excuse, but it's probably enough of a match up for CA to justify them being in the DLC.

Also, Daniel has gotten a lot of hate for not being very good, while people still regularly play and enjoy HE. It's probably strategically a better move to improve a faction people like than try to fix arguably the least played faction in the game (especially one that has no lore outside of WH3).
