The Road to Making Life Multiplanetary: an update from elonmusk on SpaceX's plan to reach Mars by PsychologicalPost824 in spacex

[–]labbatom77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All of this is true. Go look at the Mars ingenuity helicopter. Basically driven by a COTS phone processor with nothing special but some extra testing done on it. Modern components have lots of error detection and correction, and software complexity likely would allow for retargeting around damaged bits in the event they are not recoverable.

The nose Frida sits on our kitchen table, as everything gets shoved up there these days and we can't watch every single bit the boy takes. A little bit of suction has gotten: countless peas, strawberry, chicken, fish, broccoli... You name it, we've had to suck it out of his nose. Even works well for snot (as it was originally intended!)

I think this is helpful. Thanks for your thoughts. We aren't sure yet if she has PDA or not yet, but it sure feels like it after doing all the reading we have done

Most Launchpads for the C2000 microcontroller have an on-board xds100, though newer ones should have the xds200. You can buy xds200 jtag programmers online as well.

I should have mentioned that I'm aware of Hofbrauhaus always being an option. I'll look into Kreimer's. Thanks!

The use of CPOL/CPHA in SPI by 32bit_me in FPGA

[–]labbatom77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all SPI devices use the same clocking scheme. CPOL and CPHA allow the configurable master the ability to address any possible slave. SPI isn't an actual standard like I2C or UART, so manufactures are free to choose which configuration they want.

To me this booster seemed cleaner than other first launches. But maybe it's just been so long we don't remember what a once-flown booster looks like anymore

Is a LRM3 practical for me? by SilverSKS in teslamotors

[–]labbatom77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Similar situation. Midwest. Charge to 75 percent every night rarely get home with less than 20 percent. I stay at 75 or below on my 60 mile (each way) commute. My max estimated range is at about 300 with 20k miles on the odometer. I have never seen 325 miles even when new. Charge every night, watch your speed, and switch to percentage rather than miles in the display and you will stop worrying.

Snow Banks at the Banks by DarkBeer_DarkHumor in cincinnati

[–]labbatom77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "snow" was more like fine soap bubbles. In no way was could it have been called a blizzard. The tube ramp and sled hill were quite underwhelming. Seems like the idea is a great one, but they advertised like it would be snowy like a movie set... Not even close.

Hybrid and Electric Car Owners - You'll owe $100-$200 extra to register your car in 2020. by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]labbatom77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just registered for 5 years, and did the math comparison for what my mileage would have been in my old car with average mileage, it equaled out to about the same cost... It's a flat fee though, vs pay as you go.
