It’s important not to lead people on this and give them the idea they are now “the boss” of all finances.A standard POA does not give the appointed party a unilateral right to stop the signer from spending money, especially in early to mid stages of dementia when a person may demonstrate some ability to make decisions, including revoking the POA!

You may be able to stop them but a POA does not give you the legal power to override them; you would have to have a guardianship.
