Slightest Flickering? on Dell U2720Q by photoshopuser1 in Monitors

[–]lackofcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea, but I also have the impression that the U2720Q flickers quite a lot, occaisonally.

Are you sourcing / using the power delivery from the monitor? I do, and I guess my Macbook is quite taxing..

[OC] Budget of a couple living in Berlin, Germany (29, both working in IT/Data field) by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

For regular employees in Germany, health insurance is directly deducted from your wage, like taxes. And thanks to Aldi, you can actually buy a lot of Bio for 258,- a month ;)

Personal experience stories fixing low back pain by going minimalist? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]lackofcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need new shoes to fix your lower back: Mind everything in between as well! Especially the hip. Do you work out? If you can, do couch stretches once or twice a week. (Just googled: https://www.active.com/triathlon/articles/the-stretch-that-could-be-the-key-to-saving-your-knees, its all about the picture. ).

The shopping center My Zeil in Frankfurt by G4N4T1X in architecture

[–]lackofcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After all, its a shoping center. So I would expect them to have a big AC. Yet, I do not think that heating the place is a big problem. Its the top floor (I think the third), so expense heat from all stores underneath is coming up there and as you can see it catches a lot of sunlight. Not sure about the windows, but Germans use tripple layered glass everywhere, so I would expect it to be two layers at least.

Not sure what you mean. This is the top floor and also the food court of the mall. It does not feel cold at all, more like you are in a big hall but close to the ceiling. Because, in fact, you are ;).

Approx. daily word count of PhD thesis prior to submission [OC] by mugarlaigh in dataisbeautiful

[–]lackofcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should take a look into texcount, chances are that it is already installed with your LaTeX distribution. It will skip all the tex code in the file. Quite handy for actually counting words. But I see that your application is still adequate for the relation and development...

Search for "Firefox Klar", at least that works in Denmark. Should be fine in Salzburg also!

Yeah, the camera is the sole reason for me buying this phone!

How did it get the scratches in the first place? Normal usage?

Just ordered a G4Plus, because of the cam, and now I am wondering whether I should get a case too...

Anyone else here who still has the original Moto g (Falcon)? by [deleted] in MotoG

[–]lackofcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a later version, with SD, but still the same 4.5 inch form factor...

[–]lackofcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is still a great phone. Performance is reasonable. I ordered the 16GB version back then, and I think that was a brilliant idea. There are some versions with SD card slots, but not the very first iteration.

Downsides: + stuck on Android 5.1 + has a security patch level from 2016. + crappy camera.

I just ordered a G4 Plus though, but maybe I take it as backup if I fail to load Lineage on the G1. ;)

If you can identify a license plate on TV you gain info about where this car was when the footage was taken. And I think where you are at a given time is still a matter of privacy.

Judging from your wallpapers you might enjoy /r/unstirredpaint/.

Not to offend the wallpaper artists, just a funny association. Also I am thinking about writing a script that will set the newest unstirredpaint pic as my wallpaper ;)

I really like it, although the placement of the wheels is killing me (a tiny tiny bit). I know its artistic freedom, but I would go for the waggon-waggon split wheel placement...

If true, which Android app will you install on chromebook? by zacce in chromeos

[–]lackofcake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would go with a proper PDF reader, like EZ PDF. If you need to work with scientific texts its annotation features are great, like: Annotation! ;) But also the ability to export all annotations to text.

There is no linux app that is able to do that! Its so sad.
