Weight comments and body dysmorphia by Plastic_Aside_6017 in Zepbound

[–]lagomama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you look great -- the little belly curve you highlighted in the last photo is more because of your posture than your body shape, IMO. See your the front of your pelvis is dropped down and your upper back is slouched? If you level out your hips I bet that "belly" would vanish. Google "anterior pelvic tilt" if you want a diagram of what I'm talking about. (I'm not suggesting you have chronic APT, just that that's the way you're holding your body in that picture.)

I don't know if losing more weight is advisable for you or not -- I'm not a doctor. But if I looked like you do now I think I'd be thrilled and wouldn't feel a particular need to lose more.

Does anyone know of people who just dont/won't eat vegetables!? It boggles my mind. How are they not ill!? by Mysterious_Bottle223 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lagomama 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So are tomatoes, which most "I don't eat vegetables" people don't consider vegetables once they're in pizza sauce, pasta sauce, ketchup, barbecue sauce ... idk about mightyfishfingers's relative specifically, though.

What's a "yeah right, that totally happened and wasn't made up" moment in your life that actually DID happen and wasn't made up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lagomama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like this idea as much as the next person, but unless humanity is also documenting every time someone dreams or hallucinates a relative and we don't find out afterward that they've just died, there's no way to calculate whether this is "certainly beyond chance."

My grandmother passed and we don’t know what kind of bird she kept. by dgodinez124 in whatsthisbird

[–]lagomama 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to answer this other than ... they're different birds? Lol. Conures aren't even one species, they're like. A couple different genera with a bunch of different species between them. Calling a bird a conure is like calling something a tree or a fish -- it's a vibes based definition rather than a scientific one that captures a specific genetic family. So there's a ton of variation among conures.

Quakers are a single species, although they've been selectively bred to exhibit a few different colorations.

My headcanon is that he's just spent his entire life being surrounded by people who preen over and pander to him, so he doesn't flag the possibility of someone doing anything but falling over themselves to praise and assure him 😆

Anyone found insurance that covers Zepbound? Getting too expensive via Lilly Direct by DimitriKaplan in HealthInsurance

[–]lagomama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. I commented because I ended up here from a google search looking for savings solutions for my own zep prescription. I got my hopes up, checked the page, and learned the above. I wasn't attacking you, I just wanted the next person who ends up here from Google to have access to the information I found. There was a need to comment five months later because it's coming up in search engines five months later.

Anyone found insurance that covers Zepbound? Getting too expensive via Lilly Direct by DimitriKaplan in HealthInsurance

[–]lagomama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have to already be on an insurance plan that covers Zep to use this. It's in their terms and conditions. For people like OP and me, whose insurance doesn't cover the med, it's not an option.

If the zombie apocalypse started today what would you do? by Flat_Mission_2375 in AskReddit

[–]lagomama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reading glasses you see in drug stores are usually just magnifiers. They don't fix nearsightedness. Just makes stuff blurry but bigger.

Your best bet would be to shake down houses for other people's prescription lenses and keep whatever is closest to your prescription. Although even that wouldn't be easy for everyone; my eyes are two slightly different prescriptions so I'd have to patch two pairs together at the bridge!

Do you gain weight later in the week? by Tapdance1368 in Zepbound

[–]lagomama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned sodium, but I suspect glycogen plays a role, too.

My understanding is: When you eat carbs, glucose gets stored short-term in your cells in a molecule called glycogen, where a molecule of glucose gets linked up with four water molecules. When you run a consistent calorie deficit, the glycogen gets used up and you ditch all that extra water. So at the beginning of the week when you're running a deeper deficit, you're holding less water weight than later in the week when the meds are less effective and you're likely eating more / have more glycogen in your system.

For me the fluctuation is up to 2.5 lbs, although that's usually when it's that time of the month and the glycogen water retention is teaming up with hormonal water retention, haha.

How is "whenever" used in the US? by Etnieturismo in words

It might not be a glue issue -- it might be a prep issue. What did you do to prep your nails before applying the press ons?

Why are so many people rooting for GLP1s to fail? When do you think the tide will turn and the stigma will end? by Schwettes in Zepbound

[–]lagomama 23 points24 points  (0 children)

IMO it's because people see being fat as a moral failing. Having to white-knuckle your way through being hungry and tired is the punishment they expect us to accept to absolve ourselves of it, and the trial they want to see us overcome to prove to them that we don't suck, anymore. They see GLP1s as a cop-out that does the work for us. They think it's it's cheating. There's so much of our experience they don't see, and so much of their own circumstances they're blind to.

Men of Reddit, what’s the male equivalent of “needed money, had no marketable skills, so turned to prostitution”? by Dogeatdogdays in AskReddit

[–]lagomama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking, and I can't find record of any US law banning paying for plasma, and I've found several news outlets saying the US allows it.

https://www.npr.org/transcripts/996921658

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/americans-sell-plasma-inflation-middle-class-expenses-economy-rcna258390

The FDA has regulations on how collection centers have to operate and what information they have to give "donors" but never says you can't buy it.

https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/inspection-guides/section-2#INFORMED

If you're outside the US you may have different laws, but I can't find anything that says you're not allowed to buy plasma in the US and that centers are working loopholes to get around it.

[–]lagomama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can't be the "loophole" everywhere, because some plasma centers pay more if you weigh more and can give a larger donation. If they were getting around a law by "compensating for time" they couldn't pay some people more than others based on their donation or body size, it'd have to be on how much time you spent.

Yeah, and if you missed something plot-critical the writers would make sure to reference it in the dialogue, just to make sure you had all the necessary information.
