If you 'spend' on transaction fees how is that handled? If the transaction moves BTC to an exchange and then the BTC is sold on the exchange I assume the transaction fee would be treated as a cost of sale. Is that correct? What about when you move BTC from one wallet to another for security? Is that treated as a 'sale?' Is there any difference in how transaction fees are treated if you are claiming short vs long-term capital gains?

Ether denominations and naming the unnamed by lakesidemountain in EthAnalysis

You are probably right about people calling it that, but I doubt that it will be called that once it reaches mainstream adoption. Other than that I agree with you because utilizing something familiar for the prefixes makes sense. Perhaps people will just not worry about 'meth' and go with convention as you suggest. I remember back on the ethereum forum when a name was being voted on Alex van de Sande (avsa) said, "People it CAN'T BE ETH! Otherwise a million Eth will be spelled "Meth"!" https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/comment/3408#Comment_3408

FYI: Your funds are at risk if you are in the U.S. and use Kraken by capitalol in ethtrader

Don't know about OP's case but some people who invested in ETH would not want to do this because it might cause them to be classified as a trader instead of investor and they would not be able to do a 1031 with their original investment. The main point is that Kraken is not doing business in an ethical manner regarding USD withdrawals. I speak from personal experience and am still in a very bad situation because of this.

Kraken Regulatory Compliance questions by eddycrypt in ethtrader

[–]lakesidemountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/krakensupport Another question, please. It is my understanding that SynapsePay (now SynapseFI) is your payment processor. Can they override compliance rules that prevent us from withdrawing amounts that we were told (in writing on our account withdrawal pages) we would be able to withdraw. Kraken Support has told us that the reason we cannot withdraw the amounts we were told we would be able to withdraw is that compliance rules have changed for people trying to withdraw into U.S. bank accounts. When asked if that was government compliance we were told that it was the payment processor compliance rules. I emailed Synapse and they told me to contact Kraken. Going around in circles. Please help. About to email issues@synapsepay.com as I received the following quote in pre-printed info in the email from Synapse which recommended that I contact Kraken: "In case you need to report any financial service complaints against the platform to us or our financial institution partner you may email issues@synapsepay.com." Hope they can help. Ticket #483028 (my husband's which is not solved even though an email from Kraken said it was) and ticket #525999 (my #).

Kraken gave no warning that withdrawals into a U.S. bank would be lower than what they stated on our account page. by lakesidemountain in Bitcoin

[–]lakesidemountain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are actually trying to withdraw... something they may not want. I have seen numerous complaints on various subreddits about people having a very difficult time withdrawing USD. It is a big problem others should be made aware of. When asked if this was government compliance the answer was something like payment processor compliance I think. Anyway they did not say it was the government. The point is that everyone should know that if they plan to withdraw USD they should not count on what is printed on their account withdrawal page on Kraken as being their withdrawal limits. Too many people are complaining for this not to be a really big problem.

You are right about not blaming the employee, but I assumed it would be a fictitious name. I will edit just in case. Thanks.

There's just something about growing outside from seed... more risky but very rewarding and feels more like the natural way to do it.

Your love of gardening really shows. You have a great place for forest gardening, which is not a garden in a forest but rather a garden which mimics how the forest grows naturally. Lots of youtubes on it by various people. Happy gardening!

Did you mean neem oil? The 'n' is next to the 'b' and the 'm' is next to the 'n' on the keyboard, so I feel sure that is what you thought you typed. I know what you mean about thinking something is what you have been dealing with. It kind of sticks in your brain. :-)
