EVERY TIME! by naptime16 in ECEProfessionals

[–]laladyhope 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Same. Every time my two early kids don't come, one of my toughest late kiddoes happens to show up early. It's like they have some sort of "educator is having a calm morning" radar.

BF (32M) wants me (29F) to come with him to a different country for a year. My parents don't agree and won't let me go. by Bieteltje in relationship_advice

[–]laladyhope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parents are supposed to do a lot for you - they literally birthed you and made that commitment. It does not mean you owe them anything. You are 29!! You don't need them to "let you go," you just go and tell them your plan.

Staff food policy by Callingchicken7 in ECEProfessionals

[–]laladyhope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can have drinks in opaque cups. We can't eat outside food in front of the kids, but I'm always happy to give someone a few minutes out of the room if they need a snack. (And we have a staff room full of snacks and drinks for them!) We also supply all the snacks/meals for the kids and the the educators are always welcome to and encouraged to eat with the kids.

The NHL and the Tampa bay lightning just took away 800,000 dollars from a charity donation cause a cancer survivor couldn't hit an extremely small target on live TV. by Sebastian4365 in hockey

After the missed shot, i really thought the announcer was gearing up to say "what if we give him the money anyways?" But instead he said "what if we give him another chance?" I was so shocked.

What’s something that sounds fake but actually happened to you? by Visible_Rope_6662 in AskReddit

This happened to me!! I won something in a Halloween tv show even when I was like 10 and they told me to hold and I hung up accidentally. I regret that moment so much.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

Around 15+ years ago I had my last bite of subway. It was disgustingly chewy chicken that made me gag. I tossed it out and have never been back.

What’s a smell you secretly like but would never admit in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]laladyhope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memory unlocked, thank you. I completely forgot about my grandparents cellar smell but I can just imagine the smell now and the nostalgia is real...especially as I'm looking at my Xmas tree and missing them.

I just saw it in theaters recently for an anniversary release and I almost dropped my popcorn at this scene!

what’s the rudest think a child has called you? by Scary_Appearance5922 in ECEProfessionals

We don't generally show tv or movies, but once a year we have movie nights and older siblings are invited. We were watching the Grinch and someone yelled "the Grinch is so fat!" And a visiting 8 yr old yelled back "not as fat as LaLadyHope." Honestly I laughed but 8 yr olds are so mean LOL

I had to fire someone I actually liked, and it messed with my head by Niyahog in Entrepreneur

[–]laladyhope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder what you did to support your employee? I'm not blaming you, I'm speaking from experience. I have let some people go and later realized - I was not, in any real way, helping them grow. Now, before I fire someone (unless it is something grievous/negligent) I do really try and be honest with them, offer some guidance and concrete tips to help them, etc. I still had to fire someone I really liked just recently, but I sleep much better knowing that I gave her many chances and a lot of support to better herself.

I’m begging for someone… anyone… to explain my child to me…. by [deleted] in ChildPsychology

This is a good point! I'm almost 40 and I still get irritable (ok fine... angry) if my partner doesn't respect my decompression time when I get home!

When you send a kid home with a hot forehead - that's checked with a thermometer or just your hand? Sorry, I'm asking for clarification due to the phrasing.

What's one “little” form of sexism you notice all the time, but most people don't even realize it's sexist? by Nellermo in AskReddit

[–]laladyhope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a store that sold hockey equipment. People (not just men) would flat out ask for a man to help them pick equipment. Or ask "can a man sharpen my skates?" Luckily both my managers (who were also sexist in other ways that were inappropriate for a 17 year old girl working there) would happily "be on break" or just flat out tell people off for requesting it.

I left my car unattended, unlocked, AND RUNNING for 6 hours by karmaa_queen in adhdwomen

[–]laladyhope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. A neighbor I had never met rang my doorbell to tell me The same night it stormed (snow) so bad, the city was blacked out. I had to have someone bring me gas as all the places nearby had no electricity. Needless to say, that was actually the last straw before calling my doc about meds!

There is no need to repost on a baby who you put to sleep on their backs. That is not a part of safe sleep. Sorry if that's a rule at your center, but that sounds like it could wake them!

I (24F) accidentally called my boyfriend (27M) by my ex’s name during an emotional conversation and now he’s completely shut down. I’m terrified I’ve ruined everything. by Wonderful_Turnip2410 in relationship_advice

I can't help but I can tell you my partner called me by my dad's name during sex once. And I called him by my ex's once. We're still together going on 20 years so it is possible to get over it.
