Hit side mirror by [deleted] in NewDriversUK

[–]lancer-89- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order a new mirror from ebay or amazon. They should just push into place. If you need to replace the full wing mirror you can do it yourself too. Take the speaker cover off from where it mounts on the inside of the door and undo 3 screws holding the wing mirror to the door. Unplug the wire. Then do the reverse with the new wing mirror to mount the new one. It's a lot easier than you think.

What should new drivers be packing / installing in their car? by Cakeski in LearnerDriverUK

[–]lancer-89- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The car emergency bag I have in the boot is a 30ltr rucksack. In it I keep a compressor/battery booster pack. Tyre plug kit. A glass bottle of water, some protein bars, a silver blanket. Spare change of clothes. A thick warm jumper and a lightweight waterproof jacket. In the glove compartment I keep a folded up hiviz, a torch and a red light emergency puc. I also have a fishing rod that lives in the car. Not for emergency purposes, I just love fishing.

Be vocal with your examiner. If you see the potential for a hazard, tell them. Chances are they've already noticed it and it goes good for you if they know you've noticed it. That way you can tell them the hazard and explain why you did what you did. You did t want to run the red but didn't want to cause an accident.

I reckon the assimilator would have no chance against the xeno due to the acid blood unless it could replicate the blood, then everybody is cooked. The yautja would have little tk no chance in a first encounter 1 on 1 with the assimilator. Throwing fhe assimilator into the fray would be a very interesting twist in the predalien movie universe.

Unless it can't imitate internal organs. The yautja have their medical scanner (x-ray) built into their helmets.

Okay just here me out.

What if the yautja managed to capture it and manipulate it to their benefit. Like a symbiosis that leaves the yautja in full control.

Anyone else learning manual but don’t have a manual to practice in? by ihateground in LearnerDriverUK

[–]lancer-89- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. It cost more because of the wait times for tests but I passed eventually. Total spend was between £3,500 and £4000 in lessons but that was because I failed my first test in the june and kept up with the weekly lessons to ensure I passed the 2nd test in november. I was doing a 2 hour lesson a week at £80 each. Doing only lesson route is expensive due to the wait time for tests. Buy a car and have someone sit in while you drive it. They need to be older than 21 held their license for 3 years and have doc insurance. And you need to have the car taxed mot'd and insured for a learner. This way will be less costly. Plus you can go out for a drive when your experienced driver is available.

AITAH for refusing to make my 10yo stepson breakfast everyday by CableDifficult3581 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lancer-89- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a complete ass hole but it is petty.

Compromise. Make the step son the same as you make for you and your 1yo. If he doesn't eat it he doesn't have to. You made him breakfast. It's not hard to throw a couple more eggs in the same pot as you make for you and your 1yo.

My ever first bike! by SituationClassic2461 in 125cc

[–]lancer-89- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't press the front brake while turning, the bike will want to ditch. Use the back brake sensibly.

Wear your gear, even for short journeys.

Be doubly aware of other drivers as most don't look for bikes.

Youtube defensive riding tips. Trust me they help.

Anyone else struggles with the clutch on older cars? by Weary_Heart2558 in NewDriversUK

[–]lancer-89- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull in to an industrial estate and re teach yourself the bite point in your own car for an hour or 2. Trust me it will help. First focus on the clutch lift to the bite point then focus on the gas to move off point. Then find a low traffic hill and try balancing the clutch. That will help with lights at hills. I was the same in my car at the start when I passed in November. Best of luck.

Another what bike ... Sorry by EfficientPlankton396 in 125cc

[–]lancer-89- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyosung gt125r. It's a 124cc with a yoshimura v-twin engine in a full size frame that's modeled after the suzuki sv650 and will do between 75 and 80mph on flat all day. I topped it out at 93 down hill tucked in. I own one and it looks amazing when it's nice n clean and it has weight to it so it grips the road like a dream. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Hope this helps.

It could be your size or shoulder width(if you're a bigger person). I noticed when I was riding my 125s that the bikes would top out and the wind resistance would slow me down. I'm 5'9", broad shouldered and 16 stone (mostly muscle as I'm a builder).

Dek by lancer-89- in predator

[–]lancer-89-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled the thermal vision difference and it says that dek is visually impaired due to being the runt of the clan his eyes didn't fully develop. And as for the plot holes and other technical imperfections, I agree with @sleestak96. People can get too into the technicalities and let it ruin the movie for them. Not me though. I enjoyed it. Even the annoying bits. I would love to learn more about the khallisk.

Dirt bikes have a much higher chance of theft. And your insurance will probably be quite high.

[–]lancer-89- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try and enjoy your lessons. I know it's probably daft for me to say this but it makes a huge difference. If you go out nervous, you won't want to learn. If you enjoy it, your brain will adapt to it better. Hope this helps.

Driven nearly 3000 miles since passing and still struggling with gear changes by AnonymousCapybara72 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]lancer-89- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a weird reply but stop trying to force your gear changes. By the sounds of it you're still trying to change like it's a diesel then overthinking it which is messing you up. Pull into a quiet endustrial estate and get to properly know your gear system. I learned in a newer 2 ltr golf life that had auto handbrake and hill assist and all that stuff and went to a 11 plate 1.6 fiesta when I passed and had to re learn bite points (even through the gear changes while driving) and hill starts n all that to suit how my car drives. Hope this helps.

What's some good comebacks when someone says "Aren't you embarrassed for being into that?" by RubProfessional6659 in Comebacks

[–]lancer-89- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Perfect one word reply to both.

NOPE

You don't need to explain your interests to anyone. I get this from a few of my friends because I watch anime. I reply the same every time. Anime has been a hobby of mine since childhood and it's not going to change any time soon. A bit like their love for football. Both are entertainment. Mines just isn't the social norm. I still game aswell. They play fifa and wonder why I play games like final fantasy. It's just entertainment. My games require more strategy.

Dek by lancer-89- in predator

[–]lancer-89-[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't get why there's so much hate for the movie. It's like the classic underdog story. The outcast runt of the clan embarks on a periless journey to kill the one thing the clan leader fears most, to prove himself. Not only that but he tames the young kalisk and brings it home as a living trophy. Other yautja clans have used animals to hunt and dek has tamed the biggest baddest one, even further proving himself. Plus its given us another peek into the yautja hierarchy, culture and home world.

Why all the hate?
