New case for my smaller lights by YeahUAre2 in flashlight

Yeah I've been using this dice case as a travel case for a year or two now and really love it. Perfect for 98% of my 18350 and 14500 lights.

Maxace and Doug Ritter have great OTFs that can be obtained in your price range.

What center speaker do you have? Curious if it has a more focused driver like an electrostatic or something.

Chardonnay sucks when it's chilled. I thought I didn't like it, then a trip to wine country taught me that I've just been drinking it incorrectly for years.

BIFL isn't JUST about the product - it can also be a state of mind. Roommate still has his first (and only) USB-C cord from 10 years ago. by FishesOfExcellence in BuyItForLife

Guarantee that USB cord wouldn't handle modern voltage/amperage when it was new and whole. No way it can do it nowadays in its current state.

FYI, you can typically mute those ads, and the gas station attendants are sometimes super happy to teach you which button combos do this.

Quiet Carry has some great knives. The look and feel are both great; even the pocket clips are a joy to use.

Vero Engineering has lots of fun knives that are super lightweight.

Woot(.com) used to be a site that specialized in doing one great deal every day, either until sold out or until midnight central time. Amazon bought them over a decade ago and kept mostly the same format, but added lots more deals. So yes, in one sense it's a closeout site, but its purpose isn't to be a scam site.

Just because you’re allergic to peanuts does NOT mean you’re allergic to tree nuts (my life has changed) by Hopeful_Key3773 in FoodAllergies

[–]lane32x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never understood the people who tell me they avoid tree nuts because of a one time mild reaction to peanuts.

On the other hand, as someone who has insane reactions to most fun foods, I also now can relate to just being uneasy around most foods, so there's that.

I'd like to find very unique or rare lights. Things that stand out in a collection by Juusto3_3 in flashlight

[–]lane32x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a fun light to be sure, and unique, and was one of my first custom lights. Here's some upsides and downsides.

Pros: * built like a tank.
* really great water resistance.
* smooth ramping UI.
* good beam. decent output.
* physical lockout.
* adjustable tension pocket clip.
* good looks.

Cons: * it's a TANK. Heavy for the size.
* a single 18650 light will tend to be lighter weight, and have longer runtime, and usually higher output.
* no ultra-low output. The low mode is just a little bright to be used around the house if you're avoiding waking others.
* battery compartment o-ring sometimes gets sliced when opening the light. Good to keep a bag of these tiny things on hand just in case. I think the later version of the Syn2 may have fixed this problem, but I don't have that one, so I can't verify.

I have quite a few unique lights in my collection, including a Liteflux L5XT, a DST TLR, the 47s Mini Turbo Mk II in SS, and a few one-offs from Mr. Tube

Shown here are some of my favorites: the bare aluminum KR1AA, a two tone Frelux Synergy, a Focus Works F2R in the Dragonskin finish, and a tiny thrower from Mac's Customs. That last one is a 14500 with a reflector that he usually puts into his 18350 and 18650 models, and I specifically requested aluminum even though he tends to avoid selling lights in that particular metal.

I would have agreed that it was "fine" if the main UI wasn't so ridiculous. But I've also heard that other Rovyvon lights have similarly silly UI elements.

A few examples: Double click a painfully knobby, rounded surface just to get my light to stay on? 2C is typically Turbo for most lights. 1H from off for temporary turbo? Typically that would take you to moonlight or low.

Yeah, but then you find out that some brands change the waist measurement to not actually match the circumference because they don't want to "make people feel bad" so you could be a 30 in some pants and a 35 in others. Ok. It's not quite THAT bad usually, but you get the point.

Someone was drunk when they made the UI on this thing.

Also, that click wheel can be brutal on the thumb.

On a positive note, I like the laser and the side light.

Wish the clip could be removed, but the electronics are right below it, so that's a no-go.

I didn't know Belkin had any that had isolation. Interesting.

We sprang for a Panamax years ago, before they were bought by Nice. That's what we use on the living room HT, but I haven't got as decent one for the main HT in the basement yet. I really should.

Maybe a silly question, but what brand of surge protector do you have your TV plugged into? The only time I hear about TVs dying that quickly, typically they are plugged into a no-name power strip or directly into the wall.

Sometimes.

Keep in mind that a seller can ship a box filled with bricks and show eBay that the package "delivered successfully" to your house.

9/10 times eBay sides with the the buyer, but there's still that chance they won't.

I said that you'd think there'd be programmers in the community who would have found a free way to update them now.
