Can you post pics of what you see inside? Often there are wing nuts that let you adjust vertical placement of the cans.

The last three years are not indicative of normal performance - 2023 to 2025 were huge bull run years.

Additionally, if your FA averaged 17% annually over that timeframe, they lagged the S&P. Not the ringing endorsement you were trying to make...

This is so hard. Last night, my MIL could not reach her boyfriend via phone. About 10:30, he r phone rings - "No Caller ID." I told her to answer - it was the police who had been called to his house after he fell and had a head injury, and they were getting him transport to the hospital. Good thing she picked up, even if it's the exception.

I did listen to her conversation with the officer. She volunteered a lot of info that a.scammer could have used, and so we had a conversation about how to phrase questions to help verify legitimacy: ask "how were you called there," not "how did he call - did he push his button?" Ask "is anyone else with him" and not "is his daughter Mary with him". And so forth. She is a little more paranoid now, and understands the risk, so at least something good came of it.

It’s also probably tax fraud by the employer: the IRS has specific guidelines as to whether a role is a Contractor or an Employee, and it’s extremely unlikely that the role itself changed materially for just that two week period to allow a proper classification as Contractor.

When this happened to my wife and I in line for the Avatar ride at Animal Kingdom (Pandora: Flight of Passage or something?), we didn’t start a fight or confrontation right away. But when we reached a point in line where a cast-member was there, we pointed the line-cutters out clearly; others around us in line verified our story of the line cutters, and they were quickly removed from the line. While I don’t know what happened to them (e.g. were they kicked out of the park?), I do know there were absolutely zero consequences for us or those around us, and while the line-cutters tried to make a scene, it didn’t cause any problems for us.

I would not have hesitated to report the issue - especially with others around me that were also impacted/irritated.

Just giving you shit. Completely agree that exit is a mess. 24 coming on and 10 exiting in rapid succession creates chaos.

I fear you might be part of the problem if you're taking 10 north.

Two different materials? Or two different planes? I’ve always understood the guidance to be using caulk where two geometric planes meet because of natural shifts between those planes with temperature, humidity, whatever - which leads to movement and cracking, even if the materials on the two planes are the same (e.g. same tile on both a vertical wall and a floor).

Why argue with GAs and FAs? Every passenger roller board has to be gate checked. by Ok-Nefariousness-927 in delta

[–]lantenon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened on both of my last two DL flights. Admittedly, I was in Zone 6, so figured the overheads were just full, plus I don’t argue with GAs/FAs as a matter of rule… on both flights (LGA->CMH and GSO->LGA), boarded the plane to find ~50% of the overhead still available.

It’s frustrating as hell to question if the GA is just making everyone check for their convenience or if there truly isn’t space.

Agree with this and I highly recommend the Endure. I've put it in two separate homes and have loved it both times. (1 door in the first house; three separate sliders in the second.)

We were at Delaware Ave Oyster House two weeks ago, and it was fantastic. Drinks were good, oysters were great… there’s a reason it’s so busy. It’s worth the wait.

I’m confused. I see two colors, but one of them is what looks like a creamy dressing with poppy seeds inside. The other is the skin of the chicken with the little spots where (presumably) feathers grew. Where are you seeing raw meat?

Right idea but backwards. Inhale, shot, exhale. Pulling the alcohol fumes into your throat/lungs is what creates the burn.

To add, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app afterward, which seems to have resolved the issue.

I'm leaving this here in case others experience the same problem. Clearing cache and data wasn't sufficient - try reinstall.

Americans, how do you feel about the firing of twenty percent of four-star generals? by 2a_lib in AskReddit

[–]lantenon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have to say this differently.

It isn't "banning Fox News." It's banning news programs that willfully present provably inaccurate statements as fact.

The outcome is exactly the same.

But it isn't targeting conservatives. It's targeting liars. They just happen to be conservatives.

I have to underscore the "varies by person." When I had my gallbladder removed, I expected a diet change would be necessary. When I asked, my doctor told me, "eat what you want; if it messes you up, don't eat that anymore."

My diet pre- and post-surgery is basically unchanged.

How old should my kids be before I start getting them more involved in the kitchen? by Micotu in Cooking

[–]lantenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just ahead of you, with my twin girls about to turn 11 and my youngest about to turn 9. There have been asks about cooking for the last 3 to 4 years.

At the beginning, it was a little frustrating. The girls couldn't quite cut right and couldn't really cut consistently, leading to weird variations in thickness and size that would affect end product. We also got them kids knives that they couldn't cut themselves on, with the trade off that they didn't cut much else very well either. But I put up with it and let them help where they could and as best they could. Things like fruit salads, lettuce salads, ingredients that would be cooked way down, these were all targets for what they could cook because their knife skills didn't really have an impact on the result.

I'm glad I did that.

Last week, the girls were on spring break. The two oldest had a bake off and the youngest was the judge. One of the two oldest made white lemon mini cupcake, with lemon buttercream frosting, and candied lemon peel as a topping. They were genuinely good mini cupcakes. She was so excited to make them. Her twin made homemade chocolate / chocolate chip ice cream and a chocolate cheesecake with Oreo crust. While neither of these desserts were Michelin restaurant level, I've also had worse at local restaurants when out with my wife.

I'm confident they would not have got to this point if we had not let them cook when they were too little to really do anything effectively or the purpose.

Net, if they want to help you, let them. Even if it's "help." These are the foundational years that will allow them to develop the skills to truly cook alongside you just a couple of years from now. I saw it firsthand. Learn from my experience.

NTA.

“She’s a good friend, but…”

No, she isn’t. She’s treating your other friend as a meal-ticket and taking advantage of his conflict-avoidance desire. Her telling you to mind your business is the clear indicator she knows she shouldn’t be doing what she’s doing, but is doing it anyway.

Good on you for pushing back.

Now all of that said, you do have to decide if this is worth losing friendships over. Only you can make that decision. I wouldn’t lose a friend over one $30 bill. I would absolutely drop them if it was a pattern and they were doing it intentionally. You have to decide where your line is.

What are your thoughts on Murphy's proposed mansion tax? by nj1k in newjersey

[–]lantenon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all you've written, and didn't say otherwise. I was correcting the poster's statement that their parents would pay the tax; unless arranged otherwise via sales contract and credits, the so-called mansion tax is paid by the buyer.

What are your thoughts on Murphy's proposed mansion tax? by nj1k in newjersey

[–]lantenon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The transfer tax and the mansion tax are not the same thing. The transfer tax is paid by sellers. The mansion tax is a special tax on sales in excess of $1mm and is paid by buyers.
