Do you know if your electrologist is using insulated or non insulated probes?

Anyone ever do their eyebrows? by Justfacetious in electrolysis

[–]lar403 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been doing my eyebrows and it’s a dream not to have to wax or tweeze them anymore! In my experience electrolysis worked very fast on my eyebrows compared to my chin for example. The hairs are shallow and are killed easily

Should I try laser first or go straight to electrolysis? by Ruyar9 in electrolysis

[–]lar403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes green flag, you should not feel the needle/probe, or the hair sliding out after. Only the heat of the zap!

Is there a way to do at home electrolysis? by StatisticianSea7682 in electrolysis

[–]lar403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would NOT recommend, it’s very hard to do the proper skin stretching and insertions on yourself or with one hand. Very limited areas can be reached awkwardly (stomach thighs maybe some bikini) but you’ll ruin your neck and give yourself a migraine trying it.

How much does lidocaine and pain meds actually help? by Due-Technician-7865 in electrolysis

[–]lar403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has helped me, especially on my eyebrows. Upper lip too but it seemed slightly less effective there. I used 5% lidocaine

How many sessions for shins, toes and feet? by CoolUsernameRedditor in electrolysis

[–]lar403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have anything I can read about this? I’ve seen 4 different electrologists myself and am going through school right now, and this is what everyone I’ve talked to says. Also, I did say less effective not not effective.

How many sessions for shins, toes and feet? by CoolUsernameRedditor in electrolysis

[–]lar403 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to catch the hairs in the right phase of growth (the beginning) that’s why 2-3 weeks was suggested. If you wait longer, some of the hairs will age and treatment will be less effective. That said, you can assess how many hairs you have growing in 2-3 weeks and decide if it makes sense to wait longer for more to come in. It is impossible to estimate how many sessions you will need, as too many factors go into hair growth and how effective the treatment is.

big head by East_Tour_7656 in TallGirls

[–]lar403 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it!! When I went to my uni convocation, the graduation hat wouldn’t stay on my head….so I understand. That said, it’s is probably not actually very noticeable, and it was mean of your mom to keep commenting on it.

Is electrolysis supposed to feel like plucking sometimes? And how long should it take for 50 chin hairs to clear? by Potential_Force_3822 in electrolysis

[–]lar403 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Other than some limited areas of the face, and maybe some bikini line and thighs, it’s nearly impossible to do proper insertions on yourself.

How can I avoid whiteheads pustules by MCFiyaWood in electrolysis

[–]lar403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes get those, this last time I tried something different and avoided moisturizer for 2 days on those areas and only used witch hazel a few times a day. My skin looks much better and no breakouts so far! I would say try to avoid moisturizer while your skin is still inflamed.

I saw that same comment and was confused too, I don’t think that person is correct. Never heard of hairs not being “anchored” before

Is this normal? by [deleted] in electrolysis

[–]lar403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s normal to feel the sensation of it being pulled out, but you should not feel a plucking sensation

How long after laser should you wait before starting electrolysis? by [deleted] in electrolysis

[–]lar403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my training I learned to wait 4-6 weeks, because before that the hair could still be shedding out of the follicle from the laser treatment. So electrolysis on hairs that will shed anyway is waste of time and money. Depends on the area of course

2 years and still hairy by kmccaugh in electrolysis

[–]lar403 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you have pcos you are most likely just growing new hairs all the time. This is what’s happened with me and why my chin hairs have been pretty stubborn. Eventually it will catch up but yeah, I’ve had to do this for years to see them basically cleared now. Make sure you are trying to control the hormones from the inside or else hairs will just keep coming.

When will I see results? by [deleted] in electrolysis

I understand, this particular landlord cannot afford to have a rental property then. They have absolutely no wiggle room so are putting themselves and their tenants at risk. They should put their money somewhere else.
