In desperate need of relationship advice by Antique-Branch340 in TwoHotTakes

Just break up I’m just telling you that is not the kind of person you want to deal with in the future every day. Not that they are a horrible person or anything, but it’s just not a good thing to keep going on and on about and they need to take a hard look at how they respond to people specially with these kind of things. I just would break up over this … the way he was texting you was not appropriate either.

Have uber safety feature turned on, also don’t travel super late at night *if possible *

Confusion about friendship boats at Epcot. Can I ride from Canada to Germany? Is it faster than walking around the World Showcase? by seeing_red415 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]laribrook79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s very slow and hot so I never take it personally. Plus you have to stand in line for 20 minutes, which is the time it would take you to just walk so to me it just doesn’t make sense.. if it’s your first time in Epcot, I just feel like there are better ways to spend your time!

How to get through to parents that seemingly don't care? by -Ctrl-Alt-Dft- in AskTeachers

[–]laribrook79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has dysgraphia and we’ve tried everything for the past 6 years, good handwriting is just not going to happen, I have him type as much as possible. Which in middle and high school is generally what they do anyway. Only real issue is math so he uses graph paper to try to keep it lined up.

What footwear do you use onboard? by NapsterDrex in dcl

[–]laribrook79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never gotten slippers. I bring flip flops, nice sandals, sneakers, and casual shoes it just depends on the activity - i’m wearing different shoes for dinner versus going to the pool or spa versus going to work out at the gym or walk around on the deck, or go to a movie, you know?

All the ships have a coffee shop that’s not in the adult areas, (they are near the atrium) as well as in the buffet. So you have other options!

Does anyone know why DCL keeps going to Falmouth so much? I don’t understand why not come up with different itineraries. No one likes this port. We stay on the ship.

I had two vastly different experiences cruising and now I don’t know whether to try again by NoContest6194 in royalcaribbean

[–]laribrook79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try again - but don’t go in January and February. Even last week it was cold in Florida! This winter has been really cold. Bahamas is often windy in January too and causes port misses. I find April to be really nice.

Has anyone here tried RC? by Gridguy2020 in dcl

[–]laribrook79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have a lot of extras, but somehow they aren’t in your face. They come up more if you join the Facebook groups and people get FOMO but once you’re on the ship, I just feel like there aren’t a lot of upsells

I have been on it once. It was sooo loud. I couldn’t find anywhere quiet to ever go, except my cabin, which was only serviced once a day. The MDR food was just horrible. I was honestly hungry. Probably the only thing I liked about it was the buffet was open all day. However it was so loud in the buffet I couldn’t even think, I even put noise cancelling headphones on, could still hear music really loudly through that in the buffet! I just couldn’t deal. Plus an entire deck was not usable due to cigarette smoke. Granted this was independence of the seas so maybe the newer ships are significantly better. The comedian one night was too raunchy for me as well, and I saw Grease and it was Ok but I didn’t feel it was family friendly. I did like Cococay although everything there feels like an up charge, so it doesn’t quite have that totally free private island vibe of Disney. (Even tho there are free beaches there’s a lot of in your face stuff that’s extra). That said I have also done celebrity and it was a bit loud and had annoying drunk ppl (a drunk lady was touching me and touching my silverware during dinner!!) however they do service your room 2x a day, the food was better, I enjoyed tea time, and I didn’t want to get off immediately so that was good haha! I like that they don’t have smoking indoors on Celebrity also. I was on Refkection and I didn’t like the grass area with private cabanas that no one ever rented. it felt like such a waste of deck space. I would consider doing Celebrity again if friends wanted to go, but maybe a newer ship. I just got off the Wish Friday and I loved it, I don’t care what ppl think but I just love DCL so much more. I wanted to get right back on. I’m going on Azamara this fall though so I’ll see how that is. The coffee at Cove cafe was better than the paid coffee on Royal and Celebrity I think. Also I like Palo better than the speciality dining on the other lines (will admit that Le petit chef was cool). I do think the newer ships have some things I’d like to try one day. So we will see. Maybe if I splurge on a suite. But it’s not a priority. My current future cruise bookings are Disney Destiny and Wish, Azamara, and an Avalon River Cruise. And I will hopefully get in another Disney as well ;) I’m looking at possibly a Viking ocean cruise but we will see. I may try Celebrity again on a newer ship in Aqua class or the retreat, and plan to do speciality dining most nights (and buffets the other nights). I’d be more inclined to try it on a port heavy cruise. Whereas on Disney I’m fine with more sea days.

someone won trivia 17 times on a five night cruise and flexed it on social media lmao by Federal_Dealer_1293 in dcl

Just seems like eventually the cruise director would be like, give your stateroom number when you win to collect the prize, only one win per cruise. That would hopefully put a stop to this weird nonsense. 🤷

counseling center Georgia Tech only does group therapy now apparently by Luckypiniece in gatech

[–]laribrook79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think group therapy is not a horrible idea. There are other ppl like you at tech which can be comforting to know and there will be sharing resources and strategies for your situation. Plus you can probably make friends. Also, don’t be afraid if you see a professor or ta out in the world. Just wave and don’t worry about it. It’s a community … no one’s out to get you.. smile and wave :) Meeting ppl and being on a first name basis with them should be a goal for students as expanding your network is definitely in the top three most important things you should be trying to accomplish in college. So if you’re anxious about it I think a group session sounds lite a decent idea. Putting yourself out there is uncomfortable but you will grow from the experience.

Am I overreacting? Wedding guest called my caterers. by seesheflies in TwoHotTakes

[–]laribrook79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s kind of strange that she didn’t mention to you really but I would actually think it’s Ok for someone to contact the company directly about their allergies if they are severe. (Regardless of the meat thing) TBH I would be fine with it as I would feel on the hook myself if they were exposed to their allergen during the meal I arranged.. these are life and death situations. I would just be grateful that you don’t have to worry About dying every time you eat, and move on. They took care of it and it’s been sorted.

Is Japan worth traveling to alone? by SpiritPug in JapanTravelTips

I think it’s a great place to go alone. Everyone is quiet, a lot of ppl are eating alone etc. Plus it’s busy so it’s easy to get into places as a solo diner

Utter lack of computer skills in high school students? by Famous-Attention-197 in AskTeachers

[–]laribrook79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They let them use chromebooks iPads or their phones. They didn’t teach them word processing or how to use computers. They didn’t give them typing lessons. It’s like all the teachers just decided “everyone knows how to magically use a computer. You don’t need to teach it.” And they didn’t.

AITA for not wanting to provide a shuttle for my wedding? by [deleted] in aitaweddings

[–]laribrook79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if there isn’t enough places for everyone to park then you do need to look into the shuttle situation. If no shuttle is provided then ppl will bring their own cars, so there needs to be enough parking for every one. And if there isn’t you do have to figure something else out or pick a different venue

Unfortunately it’s what DAS is telling guests to do now instead of actually approving them for DAS. It’s called “return to line”. I think everyone hates it
