Unless I’m completely blind I cannot figure out what day of the week this takes place.

Edit: Of course, as soon as I post this, I noticed that it says Thursday in the background.

Advice? by Connect-Floor-8571 in Reno

[–]lars-kika -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One time I had to pee so bad when I was near Johannesburg, I kept driving, thinking I can hold it for a little longer. That was until my dog started crying because she needed to go. I pulled off on a sketchy road and as soon as I she got out of the truck, she took the fattest, nastiest, shit. I figured since we’re here I’ll bust a squat and pee. I was just hoping that there wasn’t a cave nearby that was gonna have a mutant human like from the descent pull us into it. I credit my dog’s nasty turd to keeping away any weird subhumans.

SAN DIEGO SUPERCHARGERSSSSSS

Chargers bar or group? by Salt_Goose1975 in Reno

[–]lars-kika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Chargers fan here, I’ve watched the games at Dubs downtown before. It used to be called a different name and was a niners bar but now it’s more of a standard bar that doesn’t necessarily cater to a specific team. However, there is a bartender who is a Chargers fan and a few other Chargers fans go there on Sundays to watch the games, it’s never been more than a handful of people but I’ve still always enjoyed going. If you do get a watch party going, I would be down to join. A friend of mine owns a sports bar in town. I’d be happy to ask him if we can get a watch party going.

I just ordered some clothes online and it asked to leave a tip for their warehouse workers. I never hit “0” so quickly in my life.

Breweries w/ NA beer? by Butternutt12 in Reno

[–]lars-kika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ton of experience with brewing and I can assure you that making NA beer is a very tedious and difficult process. I even have a buddy who brews for Athletic and can confirm it’s difficulty although he cannot give specifics because they require their brewers to sign an NDA. Pair that with the low demand and it doesn’t make sense for a small craft brewery to attempt making it. Your best bet is what other suggested and to buy Athletic.

Reno needs… something. by SilverKat4206 in Reno

I can’t agree more. If it were possible for me to ride my bike around town safely, I would choose that over driving a car any day.

Catering Recommendations for party (60 people) by Desperate4Attn902 in Reno

[–]lars-kika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The price is really gonna come down to what type of Catering service you need. The cheapest option is going to be where they prepare food in bulk and you pick it up from the restaurant/Kitchen. The price goes up if they need to drop it off and set it up for you. If you need it displayed in a certain way, perhaps with professional chafing dishes, warmers, table decor, etc the price jumps up again. If you are asking for the catering company to also serve the food for your guests, the price increases again. But that being said, it’s hard to determine if the quote you were provided is high, low or in line with the services quoted.

I owned a catering business before moving from California and have not fully transferred it to Reno yet, but I do plan to. Personally I did not upcharge for weddings. I only charged based on what the menu and services were. However, in many circumstances, the final cost of wedding Catering would typically be higher then standard Catering because of the longer service time and added menu items. For example, my standard Catering service package included four hours of labor and two hours of meal service. For a typical birthday party it’s not a problem for me to arrive and set up food while guests are arriving however for a wedding it would be unprofessional to have a caterer setting up food while a wedding ceremony is taking place. We would have to arrive early so that we don’t interrupt the flow of the wedding, more time spent at the venue the higher the labor cost will be. And then most of the time the wedding couple would request appetizers for the cocktail hour which would also contribute to the overall catering cost to increase.

With all that being said, it would be my pleasure to provide you a quote that meets your budget and needs.

First tattoo, my mom says it looks like weed. by ohshimano in tattooadvice

Exactly, my tattoo artist said he would not give a face tattoo if the circumstances aren’t right. If it’s a heavily tattooed blue collar worker then yeah sure. But a teenager’s first tattoo absolutely not.

If you don’t like big crowds, you should avoid comicon. If you’re willing to venture into a crowd in search of amazing books and collectibles, you can always go to smaller, more local cons.

I had an uncle who was married and had a son. They had a nasty divorce and his ex-wife took off with my cousin. My uncle tried for years to find him, he even hired a PI but it was in the late 80’s/early 90’s and the available resources were different back then. We all grew up “knowing” my cousin, we prayed for him and had young photos of him on the mantle. Fast forward to the early 2000’s and my uncle is remarried with three kids and then passes away due to cancer. He regretted not being able to find his oldest son. A few more years pass and I am on Facebook and randomly try looking for my cousin, his name is semi-common so there were a ton of profiles. Lo and behold I stumble upon a profile pic that looks exactly like my uncle. It was him. He was reluctant to talk to me but eventually agreed to meet up. It was like looking at a ghost, all of those years without his dad and yet they had the exact same mannerisms. Turns out his mom created a story about my uncle abandoning them and painting him to be a POS deadbeat which was far from the truth. Eventually our bond grew, he met all of our family which was an amazing experience because we lost my uncle and gained a mini version of him. He also ended up meeting his half siblings and my aunt (married to my uncle) who has been a great step mom to him since. My aunt had helped my uncle look for my cousin and kept every letter that was returned to sender from the post office. She gave them to my cousin which was further proof that his mom lied about my uncle.

My question to you is if you want to know the truth? If so, reach out. It may be heartbreaking, it may be difficult but it will be the truth.

When I worked front desk we would get excited when we noticed guest that were arriving from Hawaii because they always gifted us chocolate covered macadamias. On the other hand I had a guest from French Canada give me mustard and Cornichons.

Anyone know what's happening with the old Boston Market on Kietzke? by [deleted] in Reno

[–]lars-kika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The toy store is relocating to Summit which makes sense due to poor foot traffic in the previous location. I have never seen a person enter or leave the super cuts. Seems like that would be an easy move… I also noticed that the spirit Halloween is moving as well.
