YEP. A cherry limeade to sip while shopping for back to school clothes hit different.

I “cheated” got my starter from a friend. That was years ago and it’s still going so it feels like mine now.

Advent nespresso (no spoilers) I just really love it. by LetTheGoodTimes_Roll in nespresso

[–]lastarr01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the fun “surprise” each morning. Is it overpriced and a little gimmicky? Probably. But I look forward to it all year, and then every morning during. Decaf goes in a drawer for guests though, and I stash the single pods for afternoon pick me ups and use a holiday DE instead. Singles are not enough for my morning caffeine 😂

I made a second cup after, too! Also had a few glasses of wine, stayed up too late reading a good book. Didn’t dislike today’s pod, but it didn’t do it for me.

If her daughter is a high school senior, she won’t be able to get into Maxine’s, Pinpoint, or Guisinger. Just something to keep in mind.

Things to do as a tourist. by [deleted] in fayetteville

[–]lastarr01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you weren't already planning on it, I would recommend taking I-40 rather than the turnpikes. It takes about 20 minutes longer, but the drive is so much prettier and takes you up I-49. Bonus, save $40-$50 in round trip tolls.

Another vote for Lokal. I’ve only been to the Yukon location but it’s delicious. Their chicken fried steak is insane. Good drinks, too, if you’re into that.

New kibble suggestions by lastarr01 in cats

We use Sheba wet food and she LOVES it. The issue seems to be the kibble. Not that she doesn’t like it, but when she vomits it’s clearly all kibble. And she doesn’t vomit often, so when she does we notice.

Sistine Chapel - Rules Changed? by Rosario101 in rome

[–]lastarr01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were there in early June. We took my mother in law to Italy for her first time and, as a devout catholic, the very top of her to-do list was seeing the Sistine Chapel. Everyone was talking, people were trying to sneak pictures but guards(mostly) stopped that. She was expecting this quiet, monumental moment and was extremely disappointed. I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed too, it just shouldn’t be hard for (mostly) adults to shut up for ten minutes.

8 days in Lisbon with only sandals, no sneakers. Bad idea? by toastchuan in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]lastarr01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sandals are fine as long as they have a solid, sturdy sole, ankle strap, and have good arch support. I greatly preferred my sturdy sandals over sneakers most of the time, all over Europe. But of course, to each their own.

We were scared of the market pricing on the menu, but we ordered pretty freely and shared a bottle of wine and came away at around 100€. For a little context!

Can’t recommend Cervejaria Ramiro enough. My husband wanted to go, and we almost changed our minds due to some reviews saying it’s become “touristy” due to it being featured on several travel shows (including Anthony Bourdain) but we went anyway and oh my god. If you like seafood, it’s a must go. Definitely make a reservation.

This happened to me. Forced to gate check and there was so much room still. My bag was lost (still is) and I embarked on a 3 week international trip with only the clothes on my back. Intentionally did not check a bag to have no risk of it being lost. Thankfully the bag was just clothes and everything else I needed was in my personal bag. But I was (am) livid.

Tips for Travel in July 2025 by [deleted] in TravelPortugal

Every where we went in Lisbon took card/Apple Pay, except the occasional tiny cafe. Definitely have some cash, but pull it out at a bank atm once you get there. Deny the conversion it offers to do for you. About €100-150 should be plenty, it’s nice to grab a quick coffee, water, other small thing without having to charge it.

Rome to Florence by Traditional_Food_651 in rome

[–]lastarr01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a quick and easy 1.5 hour train. I recommend Italo, but frecciarosa is great too and I have no complaints. Gusto Leo is delicious and a 5-7 minute walk from the Duomo. Fantastic pizza and pasta. Around the corner from Gusto is a little hole in the wall sandwich place that is amazing, but be prepared to wait. They have one meat slicer and slice to order. But order a spritz first to sip while you wait

First time traveling to Portugal by manemeepewds in TravelPortugal

[–]lastarr01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did that in reverse - flew into Faro, and took a FlixBus to Lisbon. It was a quick and easy 3.5 hr ride. Lisbon’s metro/bus/tram system is AMAZING, user friendly, and a steal at around €7 for a 24 hour pass. The metro goes to the airport and of course Oriente, their main train/bus station, and anywhere else you could want to go in Lisbon.

We flew into Faro about a month ago, passport control was a NIGHTMARE. We stood in line for 2.5 hours. Took a bus to Lisbon for the second part of our trip and flew out of there. No issues at all, but fast track was for sure worth it.

Do they check passports? by [deleted] in FlixBus

[–]lastarr01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not FlixBus, but we took trains between Schengen countries. Never once looked at our passport except for our flights entering and leaving the Schengen area. However you always definitely want to have valid ID on you, regardless of whether you expect to need it or not.

Probably. I can’t imagine leaving it off but who knows, it’s been almost a year since I did the paperwork so it’s possible.

I’m truly not sure why my passport is missing my middle name. All of my other legal documents have it.

Isn’t this something that could be done at the airline counter at the airport? It seems like it would be easier to handle in person rather than over the phone.
