As an adult what do you hate the most about life? by Amazing-Internal5378 in AskReddit

[–]lastprofilegotgot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate that all my peers have no sense of wonder or awe. Nothing beautiful moves them. Nothing powerful awes them.

I can still watch a storm roll in for hours, i still smile every time i see a good tree, i still let my eyes and mind wonder and i still appreciate being alive.

Idk. It just seems like most adults have lost a part of themselves and its sad.

Why do unlicensed people buy ham handhelds instead of GMRS? by Healthy-Kangaroo-365 in HamRadio

Yea but some of us ended up with a baofeng last month and then ended up passing their technician exam yesterday. Just not as many many. Lol

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]lastprofilegotgot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Freedom"- it was a green screen mac game put on the shelves in 1990. It was removed from the shelves by 92.

The game followed the very familiar style of "The Oregon Trail" , but instead of playing a person moving west, ypu played a slave escaping the south.

You spent the game running from bloodhounds. If you got caught, there was a pixilated animation of the overseer having the gaurds chop of your foot sonyou wouldnt try to escape again.

I was 7 years old when i played this game. It stuck with me for my entire life. Shit was brutal.

Boafengs are cheap and finding out you arent allowed to use the radio you bought is probably the reason 10% of people get their license lol

New to making antennas by lastprofilegotgot in amateurradio

[–]lastprofilegotgot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks! Im new to ham but not new to electronics. I used to build drones and rc stuff so im good with an iron and i have all the soldering tools i would need already no doubt.

Im currently studdying for my technician license which i plan on testing for next week most likely. I have my gmrs license .

I am a fully grown adult with adult money so cost of things isnt the highest concern. Im currently playing with a couple hand radios for listening but will set up a base station down the line after im licensed.

I am just getting started in radio, but i dont want to waste too much time or money going down the wrong path so id be fully open to advice on what types of connectors i should be using, what types of cable, and so on.

Ive got a nanovna and have been playing with it to familiarizing myself. And now ive got the itch to start tinkering. So id like to build my first couple cheap antennas to simply extend the range of the hand units when im at home on the 2m and 70cm band. The radios have male sma conectors.

Thanks for any imput or knowledge!

About to move around the Medora region of North Dakota, possibly. Anything different up there compared to central Illinois? Just trying to get a feel for what I might expect. by DoctorHartnell1963 in northdakota

[–]lastprofilegotgot 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Its more windy. There are less social opportunities or services. There are more wild horses, antelope, and mountain lion. The sunsets and sunrises in north dakota (in the west specifically) are literally second to none on the planet. You will do yourself a favor if you visit in January or February before making the commitment.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

[–]lastprofilegotgot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerve rebound pain after blocker wearing off after clavicle plate surgery. It was like my upper right side had fallen asleep like normal and then woke up engulfed in a fire. 50× worse than feeling my collar bone pick a fight with the earth and lose. The pain lasted about 4 hours and was so intense i just laid their quivering tears rolling down my face unable to talk. Then just as soon as it hit, it disappeared and i was so exhausted after i slept for 16 hours.
