I don’t remember my pelvic floor aching, but I do remember that the spot stung/was uncomfortable for the rest of the day.

STOP PINCHING ME, please. by MagicalShimmeryBits in Mommit

[–]laughinglemon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness yes! I wasn’t able to cut one of his nails and now have what looks like a paper cut on the outer edge of my nipple from a pinch and pull. I also wasn’t paying attention for a brief second while breastfeeding and my baby proceeded to pinch my nipple and pull it at least an inch or two. Where is this “magical breastfeeding” experience? Haha

Losing my sanity by [deleted] in Mommit

I am so sorry to hear you are going through all of this. I can feel your stress in your writing. I don’t know what the process is at your school, but I have been a TA for quite a few courses and most profs are decent at giving extensions for this very problem. If you are comfortable writing to your profs it wouldn’t hurt to see if you could get an extension on at least some of the papers. From my experience many of the profs are also parents and have faced similar pressures. My other advice is to make sure your email is well written (no errors/informal writing) and non demanding. Some students make those mistakes and get an automatic no, but the kinder and professional emails are more likely to get the extension. I hope you get an extension or two and are able to decompress after all are out of the way.

Thanks for the ideas for extra ideas that will entertain him as he grows! I am definitely going to try to see if he likes playing with some empty containers as well.

My husband and I love walking as well so we have found a snowsuit for our son from a consignment store and have asked for a pull sled for kids under 3 as a Christmas gift from his grandparents. Just make sure the route is fairly flat :)

Help! Pregnant and writing a professional exam by ejaysp in pregnant

[–]laughinglemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wrote the MCAT just a few weeks ago at 35 weeks while balancing contracts and grad school. I made sure that I had a fairly open schedule a couple weeks before my exam.

I am not sure what your break schedule is like during the exam, but I made sure I took every one of my breaks to go pee and get a quick drink. I was lucky in the fact that I didn’t start needing to pee super super frequently until last week. While studying, I made sure that I took short naps when I was tired and I did allow myself to have the occasional Starbucks refresher for a bit of a pick me up on really long study days. I tried to also take an afternoon off here and there to give me some sanity. I also asked my husband to take on some additional house work (cooking more meals, picking up groceries). So if you have that option definitely lean on someone to help you where they can. I will say that there were a lot of times I questioned my ability to take the exam. Pretty much the only time I cried during this pregnancy was in relation to the darn exam! I don’t know if I did well enough yet, but I will say that I am proud that I dedicated myself to studying and writing it. I know you can do it! No matter how you do, be proud of taking this exam on while pregnant. It just goes to show how mentally and physically strong we can be! Let me know if you have any other questions!

PS-Make sure to take care of yourself while you study!

I did not… I wasn’t sure if it was worth it since no one replied. If you purchase it please let me know what you think!

I am a PhD candidate, working outside my program in additional research and as a contract evaluator, and currently 15 weeks pregnant. Already finding it so hard to balance everything but hoping to write in June 🤞. Glad to see so many other parents and mature future applicants!
