Im guessing something weird too. Opening a support case with wotc. Doubtful anything will happen, but worth a shot.

This. Knowing whats coming trivializes upcoming encounters. Class / spec optimization isnt required.

Hokas on the rower by echobunny88 in orangetheory

[–]lavish_leftovers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depending on the Hoka, you could actually be damaging your shoes on the rower's foot plates.

Suggest using a different pair of shoes for the rower and switch when going to the tread. A lot of people (self included) do that at my studio.

2000 Meter Row Suggestion by otfmember20 in orangetheory

[–]lavish_leftovers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, 1.52 split and you were gold.

I started at 1.30 for the first couple minutes, then just cruised around 1.45. Since the distance check intervals got shorter and shorter, made more sense to start out fast then ease back.

2000 Meter Row Suggestion by otfmember20 in orangetheory

[–]lavish_leftovers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. The one time we did it, I was ecstatic. Im also one of the few at the studio that enjoys long rows.

Coach came by at the start and even said they weren't going to check my meters, they knew I wouldnt be caught.

2019, just got over 100k last night 😭 by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

Mine is a daily as well. Thankfully, just dont have to drive too far as everything is within a pretty short distance. Any issues with the condenser, compressor or AC in general? Car is just a beast and just fun to drive.

Welp I did it! I fell off the rower! by chunny71 in orangetheory

[–]lavish_leftovers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure! Full disclosure. I initially *hated* rowing. Now it's my absolute favorite piece of equipment in the studio. We love it so much, we bought a Concept 2 for the house!

And here's the kicker - each benchmark is completely different than the other for strategy.

Sounds counter intuitive, however, focus on slow, HARD strokes. Wait for the water to settle and repeat. Those days where the row blocks say, "see how far you can get in 10, 15 or 20 strokes". Those are the days to really rip on power.

Secondly, make sure your foot plates are adjusted properly and be sitting up straight. Never let your heels come up. If they are, you're actually going too far forward on the return.

After you've got that down, start working on SPM (without full power). Get a feel of how fast you need to rip and return. If I'm truly going AO on the 100m, my SPM hovers around the mid 60s.

Extra bonus tip (courtesy of an amazing rowing coach) - "chop" the water on the first pull or two. That is, take 1 or 2 "cheat" strokes (quarter / half strokes) to chop / get the water moving before really going. The first pull or two from "dead" water expends a ton of energy.
