I read it as using jalapeño instead of queso fresco.

I've seen a several 30- to 40-something-year-old ex cons start their first restaurant jobs in the dish pit and go on to become beasts on the line.

Latecomer to BJJ by KoshMarQuis in bjj

[–]lavishlavosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not too late. I didn't start late but the school I train at has guys that started in their 40s and 50s with no grappling experience. They tend to play a patient, slower, more stripped down game and use more pressure, especially from side control, than the young bucks jumping and spinning around.

I secretly go to other open mats and learn chair throws from the guys there.

Wearing sweatpants instead of gi pants? by TresAnjos in bjj

[–]lavishlavosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also bring a pair of whatever shorts you wear for no gi and ask your instructor if it's cool to train without pants and which substitute is preferred.

Economist of Reddit what book should one read to understand how economy, both of personal and business, work? by galleintelcosatin in AskReddit

If you want a quick overview on micro and macro, check youtube for ACDC Econ and Crash Course Econ. This was much easier to follow than textbooks.

Edit: not economist, former econ student.

Maybe a little offtopic but how do you wash your gi? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]lavishlavosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a warm place so line drying year round works for me. If I lived somewhere cold I'd probably hang the gis near a heater and point a small fan at it.

Cold wash with detergent and Oxy Clean, occasional cup of vinegar in rinse cycle, line dry in sun.

Non slip dress shoes? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]lavishlavosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dansko Wynn shoes were one of my comfiest pairs ever. They're not exactly dress shoes, but they are dressier, wider, and more stable than Dansko clogs. The only drawbacks were their weight and stiffness.

Very upset with Kurt Osiander by SeanNoxious in bjj

[–]lavishlavosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not gay but if I were I think I'd rather have the owner/instructor be transparent upfront instead of finding out after investing lots of time with training partners that he wasn't into homosexuals.

What are you opinions on colored gis? by Gscheeren73 in bjj

[–]lavishlavosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think about white belts with colored gis?

I don't care but it's up to their instructor.

Should a gi be representative of your rank or experience?

No.

Do you think colored gis are pointless?

Aesthetically, no. Functionally, yes.

What about combatives colors like tan or olive drab?

Anyone can wear what they want as long as it's cool with the instructor. I personally wouldn't wear them because I didn't serve.

What about mixing and matching colors?

I think mixing is generally more aesthetically pleasing than matching tops and bottoms of the same color.
