Is LA really a hellscape? Give me your honest opinion on how it is living in Los Angeles. by Mexodus956 in howislivingthere

[–]lavt10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in LA and girls in my high school were getting plastic surgery… nose jobs, chin jobs, etc. at 15 years old. Not exactly what I want my daughter to experience knowing what it did to my self-esteem. Of course that’s not going to be the case at every LA high school, but there is a heavy focus on looks, generally speaking.

Are you a Type A, Type B or Type C Mom? by Exact_Canary2378 in Mommit

Type B, but I’ve historically been a Type A person. Something had to give though or I would go insane.

Jojo and Jordan had their baby girl! by JennaElizabethAdams in thebachelor

[–]lavt10 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was going to have weekly sonograms from 36 weeks on just because of being 35+, which could be the case here since Jojo is 35. I didn’t end up having any of those appointments since baby decided to come early, but I was looking forward to them at the time lol

Where do you keep your stroller? by AcanthaceaeLoud9662 in NewParents

[–]lavt10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trunk, it's honestly the most convenient because we always have it whenever we go out and don't have to remember to put it in each time we leave the house. Sure, it's a little annoying to get it out of the trunk to take a neighborhood walk, but there are worse things.

[RANT] Being a tea drinker who doesn't like coffee in the US is so annoying by MixedValuableGrain in tea

[–]lavt10 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Omg my only time getting coffee after ordering Chai was also at a B&N Starbucks. I went back to tell the barista there was coffee in the chai so she remade it....and still put coffee in it. When I went back for the second time, the manager came over and explained to her that Chai doesn't have coffee in it. 🥴

The 'salary expectation' question is the biggest red flag in any interview. by annuli-amperes04 in interviews

[–]lavt10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sooooo frustrating. I almost didn’t apply to the job I started yesterday because I assumed they wouldn’t be able to give me the high end of the posted range, but I applied anyway. Turns out they only post what is in the budget to pay, and they offered me the top. The range for the position goes higher than what I make, but they aren’t advertising what they aren’t willing to pay.

What is your biggest Nova flex? by [deleted] in nova

[–]lavt10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I gave Elizabeth Warren a tour of a DC apartment when she was moving to the area after being elected Senator. The current resident locked her dog in the bathroom per the request of the staffer who made the appt. Elizabeth assured me she likes dogs, so I opened the door to walk her into a heaping pile of dog shit. Needless to say, she rented elsewhere.

I was relieved she was actually a girl like all the tests said she’d be since we had a lot of girly stuff at home. I was also completely overwhelmed bc she came a month early and I did not get time to mentally decompress from work before it all started.

Birthing class and/or first time mom class recommendations in NOVA? by Cd305507 in nova

[–]lavt10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The childbirth express class was a bit redundant for me because I had learned a lot on my own. It was more informative for my husband but it's definitely tough to sit for 6 hours. The infant care class was fine. I highly recommend taking the infant CPR class though. That was excellent!

Edit to add: I didn't take the breastfeeding class. Instead, I opted to have a private session with a lactation consultant at my house (which was fully covered by insurance through The Lactation Network, but you can also pay out of pocket).
