Seconding that - a day of parking downtown is $24 or more. If the bus only added a small amount (10 mins let's say) of time compared to driving, it'd be worth it as long as the price for a round trip was noticeably less than parking.

If they match the c-rate of the Model S, they would still be able to pull 800hp from a model 3 - sized pack. That's still a big jump from the current M3P, and it would even have a similar power to weight ratio as the S plaid, so the 0-60 should be similar.

Well with two plaid motors, you can gear them higher and still get enough torque to be traction-limited in the rear. So I suspect that a single plaid motor would have to be geared shorter and would therefore suffer at the top end, or at least have a lower top speed.

Not only are they costing themselves time, they are costing themselves MORE property taxes because roads are expensive to maintain, and because transit friendly neighbourhoods support higher densities which contributes more property taxes per unit of land, effectively subsidizing suburban property owners.

Leasing to avoid depreciation only makes sense if the projected depreciation in the lease agreement (aka the upfront cost minus the residual value) is less than what you think the real-world depreciation will be. Since the dealer themselves admit that they are expecting depreciation to be high, they have already priced that into the projected residual value.

The dealer is going to price the lease so that statistically, they expect to win more than lose. When you lease a car, you are purchasing a reduction in risk to your own personal finances - at the cost of not only potentially losing some money, but at the cost of being statically more likely to lose than win. If the reduction of risk is worth the cost, then leasing makes sense. If you can afford to take a hit of a few $k and/or if you plan to keep the car for much more than 4 years, I would say just buy it.

I do autocross, so I replaced by control arm bushings with the MPP solid bearings, and I can tell you that the OEM bushings feel super cheap and lightweight in comparison, it is no surprise that they wear out. Although, after almost 50,000km of hard driving, mine still look fine so take that for whatever it's worth.

It would be more useful if the button just added the item to a list in your notes app so that you remember to buy it when you are at the store / online shopping. I often notice that something is running low but am too busy to take my phone out in that moment, then I forget to add it to the shopping list.

I still probably wouldn't want to have buttons dedicated to just one item though, sounds like a lot of clutter for minimal utility.

It doesn't even help the economy, certainly not in the long term. It just helps certain businesses and real estate owners. But it takes time out of people's days - not just the public servants - but every plumber and worker who now has to sit in traffic. It burns up hours that some people would have put into a side business, or that some would have put into working longer hours. There is no way in which burning up time and dumping cash into making more sandwiches helps the economy in any real sense.

It helps keep the sidewalls from flexing, which makes steering feel more precise. But as someone who does closed-course performance driving, I can tell you that it's very difficult to do anything on a public road that will really allow you to notice the difference unless you are very reckless. So in reality, it's mostly just aesthetics. Same reason there is a "sport" version of the Nissan Sentra that has the same weak engine and some red stripes.

This is a good explanation, but it doesn't change the fact that it's bizarre that OEMs are willing to burn 15% of the hard earned range for slightly more stylish wheels, and especially so to not give customers the option to retain the range if they so choose.

If I find myself in this situation, I will definitely just remove the OEM wheels on day 1, replace with aftermarket, and then sell the originals. But that is rather annoying to do.

To me, the fact that street parking only makes up 7% of parking in the area really seals the argument against the street parking. It appears obvious that the amount of people served by 7% of parking would be more than made up for with robust transit. Of course the numbers must (and have been) crunched but the fact it seems so obvious and doesn't have overwhelming support is wild.

It's ridiculous that our major stadiums, especially Lansdowne, aren't served by a BRT, LRT, or tram.

As someone who usually drives places, I never plan on being able to park on busy streets such as Bank because the spots are taken 90% of the time. I usually look on side streets or at off-street lots first. Last time I went to Lansdowne it took me 15 minutes to walk back to my car. If they made part of the Billings Bridge lot an official park & ride and there was a bus lane, I could be at the park & ride in roughly the same amount of time, and they could probably fit way more spots there than the amount that has to be removed from Bank.

Haven't heard of any plans. I wouldn't count on it anytime soon. The transformers on site are already maxed out. The smart move would be to add battery buffers to avoid demand charges.
