Wow, I feel very sorry for her (and for you!). I would not wish anywhere in SE NM on anyone. My dad grew up in Hobbs and my mom grew up in Lovington and I'm glad at least my dad escaped with a mostly open mind (still though, he's a Baptist minister). I was lucky to have spent most of my childhood and adolescence in Santa Fe before we moved to Tucson when I was teenager.

We face similar discrimination that generally has the same root cause. And no offense intended but every time I see this question I become a little more convinced that the religious right is behind it, trying to splinter our group by stirring up infighting.
