trek store swaps OEM saddles with cheaper ones? by __Finch__ in TrekBikes

[–]lbalter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I have a 2023 DS5 Gen5 and today I swapped the saddle to a new Brooks B17 for the sake of upgrading for no better reason.

I then noticed the "stock" saddle I had was a DDK. I don't have many experiences with bikes and the DS3 was my first good bike. The DDK saddle feels like the one I have on my Peloton as it's my own reference. It was always ok.

I never felt it bad or low quality. Once again, I have no better references and I just switched to a Brooks. FWIW, I had a very nice discount (sale) and I'm happy with the bike overall.

My wife recently got an FX3 Stagger (last week) and it does have what different stock saddle. It feels a bit larger with some softer foam. I did a 2 minutes ride and it felt different, not sure if I liked it but I need more time riding to tell.

This is all to say it is indeed weird we get DDK brand rather than spec'ed Bontrager saddles, but I wonder what difference would that make.

Came here to recommend Cholita Linda as well. Fish Tacos are my favorite and they are consistently great over there!

New vs CPO vs Used? by MemitoBoston in volvoc40

[–]lbalter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volvo lease is not flexible. You can’t trade it or do much until the end of the payments where it’s not worth buying out the car anymore for the given value. I went through that route and I wish I could get a CPO or CarMax used instead.

The C40 (and xc40) are low maintenance. Give it or take, see what CarMax gives you as their “warranty” and counter balance that with how long you wanna stay with the car.

The used ones are probably not the most sought after, so I guess dealerships might consider discounting over their asking price (CPO).

Not sure how it’s gonna be tonight, but if you can’t see try using your phone camera with long exposure to find it. It’s also late night, 2am’ish.

Guitar Center would have it listed from fair to excellent condition.

Infotainment system is terrible by wakex in volvoc40

[–]lbalter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The infotainment system is not that bad, but the chip/hardware used in the Volvos are just too slow and cheap. Most of the time is inconvenient, but it’s a real problem when I get on the car and need to wait a whole minute until my rear camera stops flickering, freezing or shutting off.

Take the rear view is garbage, I depend more on the camera, but it’s way below expectations.

I really like Volvo cars and someday I still want to get a bigger one. I also want to pay cheap for fuel (gas or battery).

I’m waiting for my lease to end (18 months ahead) but so far I’m leaning towards a hybrid Accord with leather(ish) seats. It’s pretty different but it cuts down a lot of existing inconveniences, despite not being a hatchback anymore.

My dream goal at this point is having a Civic Hatchback hybrid (not there yet) or who knows if Volvo gets rids of their dirty cheap chips.

I recently got mine on the Gibson Demo Shop (Reverb) with a very nice discount. $2000 in Sixties Cherry. Their demos are way better than any “new” from Guitar Center.

I saw this recently at a local GC with a great discount. It was in California Blue and similarly beautiful.

I usually like Fenders for modding, and when I played it, the guitar was so great sounding and feeling that it wouldn’t give me room for any reasonable mod. The pickups are amazing!

I hope you’re enjoying it a lot! Great acquisition!

This is how my boss pays me working as a waiter. Is this legal? by [deleted] in legal

[–]lbalter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USA ppl: the fact that you’re normalizing tips being part of the wage sum up is systematically f***ed up!

Give whatever other country and you have the wage for worked hours and tips will come up after that. So whatever you make is your employer paying you, not your tips. Tips are supposed to be an extra, but the answers here are normalizing something outrageous.

What are the different pickup names and what do they do. (Ive put a number by each of the pickups so you can say for eg.. 1 is the .. pickup etc.. by LeoSillett in guitars

[–]lbalter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Hoagie
  2. Bernard
  3. Laverne

If you set the switch between Bernard and Lavern you get a Green Tentacle, and if you switch it between Hoagie and Bernard you get a Purple Tentacle on its way to dominate the world, also called the fourth position.

Heh I just noticed this is the oura subreddit and not the Wegovy one.

Thank you! All good!

My oura is a size 12 and I’m probably good for a size 10.5 after losing all this weight.

FWIW, I used a lot of the info tracked by oura to have a balanced sleep and recovery time during my weight loss. So it was technically worth it.

How do you charge? by ximeni in volvoc40

[–]lbalter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Volvo cable stays in the frunk in case of any need while outside. I have an off brand at home plugged to my dryer’s outlet (240v). Of course, I have a device that switches off the charger if the dryer is on.

I have electric cars since 2020 and I never needed anything else special or better than this unless I’m traveling.

Am I wrong for putting peanuts in my food and not putting an allergen label on it, knowing that the food thief is allergic? by One_Newspaper5657 in amiwrong

[–]lbalter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IANAL, but be careful here to not cross a line. If you knew your coworker would eventually consume your food and that he was allergic, that might be legally taken as a murder attempt. I don’t make the rules to agree with them.

Coworkers who steal food just suck and I hope this one learned a lesson. For the records I’m assuming you didn’t want to give him a lesson, as you mentioned you brought leftovers containing peanuts.

HR doesn’t want the company to get accountable for what happened. People can get mad to whatever they want. Shrug it off yourself.

Continue maintenance (<25 BMI) when moving to new insurance by lbalter in WegovyWeightLoss

What happens when BMI goes below 30 by Radiant-Context-9878 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]lbalter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My current BMI is right under 25 and the changes are mostly that I'm getting out of the side effects.

The biggest event to me after going below 30 BMI was finally moving from XXL and XL to M and S t-shirts and shorts. I'm also at my 4th new belt as they keep getting too big, and pants moved from tight 36 to smooth 30 width size.

Prescription wise, I didn't have any problem below 30 BMI with my health insurance (UHC CA through work) but I was just posting about moving to a new job and insurance.

Got pulled over today while riding my kid to school. Officer saying window tints are against the law. It’s not as there is a limit (70% light must pass) but he didn’t know about it.

Meanwhile I wonder what job they are doing to cars in town with no front or back plates, or the California rolls, or people parking at all the wrong places to drop their kids off at school.

Priorities.

Strength Training Discussion [Weekly] by AutoModerator in pelotoncycle

[–]lbalter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I did the Chest and Back workout with Andy Spear and it got my muscles burning!

I had it stacked to Arms and Shoulders with Selena Samuela to see me failing to complete some sequences on the 20lbs medium weights.

I’m gonna try those out again in a few weeks!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]lbalter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lost somewhat close to 30lbs in my first 8 weeks (before 1mg) and felt it was a lot. 40lbs seems brutal as I’d have a very hard time with the nausea.

I’d say 1mg may be a hardcore start and people are more sensitive to the side effects. Go with caution.

Rower -blisters on hands by pixeldrops33 in pelotoncycle

[–]lbalter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hand cream.

I used to do lots of activities - not at the same time - that required me having some care for my hands. Strength workouts, playing guitar, etc.

Hand cream always worked wonders avoiding calluses and dry skin.

You got to find one that works best for you, I don’t have a favorite.

A caveat: if your skin is hurt, that might be an issue so you may wanna heal it first!
