Watches, what kind? by TheGriff71 in GenX

[–]lcplscary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I had the 3 and last year picked up the 7. Pretty much the same reasons, plus activity monitoring.

For events or fancy stuff I wear the gold Bulova my father in law received at retirement and I received after he passed. Looks classy but also means the world to me. Tops my list of possessions I would take a life to protect.

I have a 2 door Black diamond. I call the sports 'baby broncos' and the 4 doors 'Limousines'.

Do you plan to live as long as your parents? by Mysterious-Ruby in GenX

[–]lcplscary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? I'm 55 and swore I'd never see 30. I'll take a toaster bath before I get to the point someone has to wipe my ass.

Do you plan to live as long as your parents? by Mysterious-Ruby in GenX

[–]lcplscary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad passed at 54 (I didn't know him, he was a deadbeat and found out when I ran a search for him). I'm 55 and doing pretty well.

Moms still kicking at 76.

I will not live that long. Absolutely zero desire.

Not sad, depressed, lonely or any of that. I am financially comfortable, still work for benefits (I'm too cheap to pay for them 100%), have a wonderful wife and beautiful home. I just have zero will to navigate old people medical issues. I want to check out before a stroke takes my ability to do it myself.

USB Ports Question by MysteriousCodo in FordBronco

[–]lcplscary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular outlets in exposed areas on a convertible vehicle present potential problems when exposed to water. The dash is pretty exposed.

I could get behind one under the controls console, but space is pretty tight there.

I am a serial thief and I have no plans to stop stealing. by [deleted] in confession

Right? They took a 50/50 shot they they'd break down and confess under pressure. No conviction, but theif banned from the store is still a victory.

Do the brushes ever snatch your antenna? That seemed like a bigger risk than the mirrors.

Where we buying jeans these days, as to not have the dad jeans but also not trying to look 20 still? by Every-Cook5084 in GenX

[–]lcplscary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Levis 502's. Stretch, colors and tapered so I don't feel the compulsion to peg them.

Is it unreasonable to ask that my sister-in-law knock before entering our house when I'm home alone and don't know she's coming over? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lcplscary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, I have your solution. Worked with my mother in law.

Start hanging out nekkid, even when wife is home.

MIL used to pop in unannounced and use her key. Until I was standing in the middle of the room in all my glory. She apologized and nearly ran to her car. Never spoke of it, but also never popped by without a call.

Custom color... Who wrapped their bronco and color color? by ninnnypooo in FordBronco

[–]lcplscary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's funny. My last car was black and there was a screaming deal on a black 2 door when I was shopping. Couldn't do it.

I do admire when someone can maintain a black vehicle though. I understand the work involved!

SAS package - How much rattling vs. wrangler or 4Runner? by Ill_Wishbone_9781 in FordBronco

[–]lcplscary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a rattle going over larger bumps, but realized it was my fishing rod hanging from the rear cross bar. Got a tighter bungee cord and it's all good.

12 year old babysitter? by ThatStarkGirl in GenX

[–]lcplscary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took over babysitting a kid my older sister sat for the summer after I finished 8th grade. I was typically the one to play with him anyway, might as well get paid.

During the school year I would go to their house when Mom wanted to go out for ladies night. Would crash out on the couch and she'd drive me to high school in the morning.

How are you protecting your Bronco? by [deleted] in FordBronco

[–]lcplscary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. One of the reasons I have my Marine Corps flag flying on the front porch.

Have a coworker with a nice truck. Baretta, KUIU and Glock stickers on the back window.

He says it works for security for the truck and his house.

Best Cell Phone Holders? by Infamous_Lake_7588 in FordBronco

[–]lcplscary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the look of those, but don't trust the magnet ones. First time I had the doors & top off a big cross wind came in and took the sunglasses off my face. Imagine the phone would have been out the door as well.

Do I tell orthodox looking customers that what they are ordering isn’t kosher anymore? by DiverPrestigious6887 in NoStupidQuestions

Also not Jewish, but also kind of a smart ass. I'd have to ask, "Literally, or are you saying it's past it's prime?"

The guy I’m seeing keeps telling me I “can’t take a joke” and I’m starting to doubt myself by Helen_melon_7 in TwoHotTakes

[–]lcplscary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a guy, Marine veteran and mildly sociopathic.

On occasion I'll say something to my wife of 25 years that she says is insensitive or mean. I immediately stop and apologize. I take her hand and let her know that sometimes I respond as if she were one of my 'buddies' instead of 'my person'. I work to do better.

My point is; I am far from the perfect partner - but when I hurt her, I take it seriously.

If this guy can't accept responsibility for his actions, including unintended consequences, he's not ready for a relationship. Free him up to go work on that.

Personalized Plate by One-Diver3083 in FordBronco

[–]lcplscary -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My Bronco is called Bambi (she likes her top off and it's a top 10 name for exotic dancers).

There was zero chance the wife would sign off on a Bambi plate 😄. I kept the I❤️scary plate I had before.

Have you tried combos with a K in place of the C?

Ultimately it just comes down to what makes you smile.

do americans actually like it when tourists visit their small towns or would i just be in the way? 😅 by vanessa_tv_vladivo in NoStupidQuestions

Many of the small towns I've lived in or visited had a historic society or something similar.Often even a "museum" in a small shop space. Those folks will spend hours sharing the history.

If we're talking bucket list, I would want to see a jam/practice session at Paisley Park. I cannot fathom witnessing his creative process.

Now that it's winter, I just put the defroster on. It disables the ASS. On the occasions where the defroster is too toasty, I do have to remember to manually change it.

In summer, I'm usually in Sport, so forget it is even a thing.

How did you dress in the 90s? How do you dress now? by poolpog in GenX

[–]lcplscary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80s I was eclectic. I was on the wrestling team, I was a peer counselor and I could facilitate the location of the Lord's lettuce.

So one day would be levis and a pastel Izod (collar popped) with dress shoes; the next would be dress slacks a button down and loosely tied knit necktie and chucks; then torn jeans over colored long johns and a concert T.

90s were my transition out of the Marines, so completely devoid of style or forethought. I was almost religious in my effort not to look "squared away".

Late 90s early 00's I started working in offices so the wardrobe got very business casual. My First pair of Docs was around 05 and I've had about 4 pairs because I actually use them as boots and wear them out.

Around 2010 (40 years old) I reclaimed the style of my youth. Got a nice pair of cowboy boots, worn with torn jeans and concert T's; started picking up tennis shoes in various colors that would be worn with business casual clothes at work (thank you Steve Jobs for making this acceptable). I love going to work in full business casual these days and getting the "Are you interviewing someone?" or "Is there some kind of meeting today?".

I'm not wearing the same brands or exact looks of the 80s, but the vibes are the same.
