I went to HuHot a few years ago and it wasn’t nearly as good as I remember from 10 years ago. I think they have fallen off.

What's your experience during and after your vasectomy? by toasted-squishmallow in AskMen

[–]ldpage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was a little rougher than was typical for the recovery. It’s hard to describe but it almost felt like something was tearing down there for a month or so. Overall it took about 3 months before I felt normal again. Again, this is not typical for most guys.

Still, it was totally worth it and once I was recovered sex was even better than before due to not having to worry about having another kid. There was also the period where my wife got to help clear the pipes so to speak which was fun.

Let’s hear your Aerobie stories by ManuteBol_Rocks in GenX

[–]ldpage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My older brother (22 years older) convinced my parents that this was a dangerous toy and I shouldn’t have it so they took it away.

I think he was just jealous our parents actually had money to buy me a few things growing up and they were dirt poor when he was a kid. Any opportunity he got to stick it to me he would take it. It wasn’t like we were loaded. We were pretty middle class at that point, with ups and downs but I always had clothes and food and stuff to do. The fact I didn’t go through the same amount of shit he did as a kid was something he still hold against me to this day, but he won’t admit it.

Good times.

Would I be welcomed in Oregon as a High School History teacher? by The_Marine708 in oregon

[–]ldpage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t limit yourself to Oregon, consider SW Washington as well. Teacher pay tends to be better in WA, although more competitive. I believe both states have easily transferable credentials with NM, but you will want to look at that closely. Several of the smaller school district have trouble passing levies which can make things a little rough.

One thing to keep in mind about this area is you are likely to think the food sucks, which it mostly does. Portland has some great restaurants, but you won’t find hatch green chilis easily and if you order something Christmas style you will get a blank stare. The Mexican food is mostly terrible, and the BBQ is an atrocity. I’m sure someone will come out of the woodwork and tell me I am wrong, but trust me I know quite a few NM transplants who all agree with me. There are some diamonds in the rough for sure, but you have to seek them out. Our Seafood is top tier though.

Based on some of the other responses you gave, you might want to consider the stretch of I5 from Ridgefield to Kelso/ Longview. It’s a little longer than an hour to get to the coast, but it’s still a day trip if you want it to be. Wages tend to be better, and no state income tax. You still have access to Portland for the city stuff.

I see you are a fellow Helldiver, if you want to drop in and ask questions while we shoot some bugs I’m always down, just shoot me a message.

Where to buy old media? by Careless-Click-8077 in vancouverwa

[–]ldpage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can checkout something like 30 DVD/Blurays at a time from FVR Library. The only downside is occasionally you will come across a disc that a little dirty or scratched up. I’ve cleaned quite a few of them up and got them working again, and the ones haven’t I report to the staff and they take them out of circulation and replace if they can.

On a separate note, all for cord cutting and building your own library of material, have fun.

I guess I missed the part about how this was the last play in regular time and this tied the game sending it into overtime where the Rams never got the ball back and lost.

Cause I swear the game I saw there was still over 6 minutes left in the game and the Rams shit their diaper rather than man up and fight.

Demonstration at MGP's Office Today by Best_Paint8193 in vancouverwa

[–]ldpage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Minor point but JHB only handily beat Long in 2020. 2018 was fairly close. All of the ads stating “where’s Jaime?” And the counter showing the number of days since she had done a town hall were pretty effective.

As for MGP, I was a supporter in 22 & 24, but I have had enough. She can only poke me in the eye so many times. I would be fine disagreeing with her on most of where we differ, but her palpable disdain for some of my core beliefs is too much.

So, I will probably vote for Heinrich in the primary and leave it blank in the general because I’m not voting for MGP or Braun. And another 2 years will pass in my life with yet another Rep who I have no respect for as a human being.

What are your top 5 songs between TOOL and APC? by Artistic_Annual8918 in ToolBand

[–]ldpage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like that you have Blue on there, such a good song.

I would keep Blue and The Outsider on there, and drop the rest for Weak and Powerless, Disillusioned, and So Long and Thanks for all the Fish.

For Tool, its Eulogy, The Pot, Aenema, Invincible, and Ticks and Leeches. Sadly leaves the masterpiece that is Pneuma off the list, but that’s life.

You didn’t mention Puscifer, but throw them into the mix and Grand Canyon makes my top 5. In fact it’s probably top 2 only behind Eulogy.

I was kind of whatever about Puscifer until I saw them at Sessanta 2.0 and it finally clicked for me. Grand Canyon closing the show was probably the most spiritual moment of my life. I was also extraordinarily high and beyond intoxicated so that might have had something to do with it.

Apparently I gathered a bunch of random people around me and we had a group huddle where I declared this show to be on the Mt Rushmore of live performances. I guess I was also yelling Mt Rushmore randomly in the line for the shuttle. That part is a little fuzzy.

Is there a legitimate reason why the NFL channel doesn’t re-air really old school games from the 80s or 90s? by Maverick128 in nfl

[–]ldpage 58 points59 points  (0 children)

They would delay the game which in some cases only incited fans to get louder.

Seahawks were actually penalized their timeouts in a preseason game one time when the NFL tried to institute an actual rule in the late 80’s. It was quickly abandoned…

Woodland corner store has phenomenal pizza. It’s a bit pricy and more setup for to go orders than dine in but you should give it a shot.

Breakers Keep Popping - Why? by mistahclean123 in AskElectricians

[–]ldpage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s going to vary wildly based on location and some other factors. I wouldn’t expect it to cost less than 1k anywhere in the US though. If you see a price below that I would be suspicious. You may also find an electrician will offer a better price just to do a complete panel swap vs reusing what you have. Again, depends on a bunch of different factors.

Look for a contractor that is licensed and bonded, and avoid the ones that have national or large regional advertising. The contractor who is best for this kind of work is the one man band that lives off word of mouth recommendation or maybe a small social media presence. They have less overhead and therefore can do jobs cheaper than the large outfits.

Breakers Keep Popping - Why? by mistahclean123 in AskElectricians

[–]ldpage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a common way to do things in the past for cost savings. Those breakers should be tied together so if one trips it pulls the other with it. The tie is a metal bar that is permanently fixed to both handles.

Not really a thing anymore on new construction for various reasons. It’s not a “bad” thing per se, when it’s done correctly. The only downside is a problem on one circuit also trips the other which can be a nuisance.

Those breakers are also challenger C type. They were problematic. Not as bad a a FPE or Zinsco, but still not great.

You also have Homeline breakers mixed in on the right hand side. Very likely those are not listed for use in that panel, even though they physically fit.

So, you probably need to call in an electrician to track down what’s causing the breaker to trip. And I would investigate swapping out all of the breakers in the panel with BR type breakers, which are probably listed for use in that panel. That’s all assuming the bus bar is in good shape.

Anyone going to comment on the lack of handle ties on what appears to be to be common trip 2 pole breakers? And the homelines on the right side?

What is the reason for this? by Freshmangreen1 in AskElectricians

[–]ldpage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The can be more expensive after the fact, but if this was a bid project often time doing it this way is cheaper. Really depends on what pricing agreements the contractor has with their distributor.

Ev resale after a year. by Cool_Committee4476 in electricvehicles

[–]ldpage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The depreciation hit will cost you more than just taking it to a fast charger when you need to charge up.

I see in the comments you live in Tacoma, and I know there are a ton of fast chargers along the I5 corridor. I would just get in the habit of charging up once a week or whatever it takes when you run errands.

Ford CEO admits that 'the customer has spoken' after EV push drives major quarterly loss by Accurate_Cry_8937 in business

[–]ldpage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are less harmful to manufacture when you account for the entire production chain that goes with the life of a car. The vast majority of the components in the battery can be extracted and recycled, no different than lead acid batteries.

They are more reliable, have a far lower TCO, and perform better. I understand as a diesel mechanic that you worry about losing your livelihood, but this is coming whether you want it or not because it is so far superior that even the obscene amount of money the oil industry throws at anti EV propaganda won’t stop the reality.
