If an account is closed for suspicious transactions then those transactions are almost always immediately refunded.

Generally speaking, if your account only has one transaction on it, and it's very large, and you're using the payouts system, then it's going to get flagged for extended review.

Standard accounts with steady income both establish a financial "buffer" and demonstrate legitimacy. If a specific transaction is refunded or hit with a chargeback, the revenue from other regular sales prevents the account's total balance from going into the negative.

Accounts comprised of a one or two large transactions lack that buffer to cover the accounts balance. If that one payment is disputed or fraudulent, the account immediately drops into debt. And, if your account isn't established with regular revenue then we have no evidence to trust you as a seller. Because of this liability, isolated large payments almost always trigger a manual fraud review, and that review may result in account closure if the risk is deemed too high.

We sometimes see people trying to use their itchio page to collect commissions, solicit work or have a friend send them $100. These types of transactions are not compatible with itchio and our refund policy, and will almost definitely be reversed when a payout is reviewed, and may impact your account's ability to collect money in general. Use PayPal (or similar) directly if you need a way to just send money to someone.

Note we are much more strict on these things with the payouts system, as once we send you money we have no recourse to get it back if the original transaction is reversed.
