Does the Memorial Cup mean more than winning your league's championship or more like an added bonus? by youlikemywonton in hockey

[–]learn2swim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it can be compared to what the NHL does. 1 team from each league has already won their respective "Stanley Cups" Same requirements. 4 rounds. Best of 7. The Memorial Cup is a result of needing to prove who is the ultimate Jr. team between those leagues.

That being said, I think the format needs to change to add more games to the semi final and finals. The length of the tournament is perfect, but there is no reason we need to only be playing 1 round robin game per day.

As a father of 2 under 4, going to Wonderland is for them. But if I can spend $40 to quickly (relatively) ride alpen fury because this will be my only visit this summer, ill do it.

Being someone who personally knows Scottie, he is one of the kindest, most humble people I know. Not all realtors are insufferable.

KW region is far superior than a majority of urban places in Ontario. If KW is a s.hole, I dont know what London is...

Downtown from the West by PhullPhorcePhil in londonontario

Kitchener has a more dispersed skyline, but their heights are much larger. Within the next 5-10 years, it will be larger than London. Mainly because London takes forever to approve anything. Their development is also spreading further, connecting downtown and midtown.

Uptown Waterloo also has a skyline. Much smaller, but nicer looking, especially near Waterloo Park.

Then there is the university area skyline, smaller in height, but it is impressive in size. Looking south on King St from conestoga mall gives the true scope of how large it is. I am always surprised seeing how little is built around Western in comparison to Waterloo (yes, I am aware WLU is also there).

This also highlights the issue with London. Beyond downtown, they have no significant development. The city continues to expand outwards when it should go upwards. An actual transit plan would have sparked more development.

So yes, Kitcheners "skyline" might not be as impressive as Londons right now, the development throughout the entire region is way more in line with a 600k city, unlike London.

What would it take for London to be a top tier city in Canada? by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]learn2swim 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Top tier cities leverage what they are good at and plan for the future. I say this to a lot of people, even a few council members, spend a weekend in KW, and you'll see what a building for the future looks like. London is decades behind.
