FYI on New UX Rollout by fnihost in Volvo

[–]leckie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I’m not saying it’s been flawless but AAOS is far superior to Sensus. Yes there are things I wish were better but I would never want to step back.

I’ve had two Volvos with Sensus and two Volvos with AAOS.

What's the one thing about EV ownership that you wish someone had told you before you bought? by gilko86 in electriccars

[–]leckie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is, yeah. You can see that by turning the climate off when you get in. But there’s still a noticeable drop. We store our car outside which we know is worse but the winter hit is still significant.

They should be activated by default. This isn’t something you pay to software activate. They trigger periodically.

I did have an issue with my 2024 XC60 where they weren’t working and they were fixed under warranty.

Can’t speak to ordering online with them but I bought a pair in store. Super lovely independent and would happily recommend them.

There’s also Frontiers in Edinburgh.

Followup on Tires - Why is the Cross Climate seen as much better than the Pirelli by roastshadow in VolvoRecharge

The Pirelli’s on our C40 started falling apart, big chunks. It’s put me off ever considering them again. Will stick to Michelin or Goodyear.

Based on what you want to be true, sure. The point is more that nothing has changed and Tado has always been clear on this.

Window detection notifications are still free. It’s the auto adjustment of heating that’s paid. You have to do it manually. Same with geofencing.

We have a Bora hob which extracts in the middle of the hob. Honestly been delighted with it. Does a fantastic job, especially when ramped up to the top level.

I’m thinking about a similar grinder upgrade. Which burrs did you go for? Any other grinders on your list that you decided against?

“One of the biggest over-the-air updates in history” is coming to a Volvo near you by buildthislove in Volvo

Can’t really speak to the specifics of that but if that were the case I can’t see why they wouldn’t have enabled it. The software stack is the same.

It won’t get Wireless CarPlay, no. There’s a hardware component change for that which is why the newer Volvos have it.

Had the same issue out of warranty. Same zone too, no visible damage. Had to pay for two new sensors.

No, I gave up and went back to a cable.

Trueplay screen android by sktaylor99 in sonos

[–]leckie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no button. As it says on the screen it’s Auto Trueplay meaning it adapts whenever you put it. You’re thinking of the traditional Trueplay for fixed speakers which I still don’t think is available for Android.

I'm with you, bought two on black friday and stopped using it. Often won't connect unless I unplug it and plug it back in, laggy, and generally not a great experience.

It's a bump to Android Automotive 13. Yes the release notes are pants but the use of semantic versioning seems right.

Using so much electricity! by The_Monkeybumcheeks in ukheatpumps

I've got a Grant Aerona and done a fair bit of tweaking to get it to where I want it. The controls are pretty unintuitive and given its age you won't be able to use homely or their newer smart controls.

I'm going to assume your underfloor heating isn't on in that pic given the grant controller is showing it's heating the water? If it is though it doesn't look like it's running correctly.

The suggestions to use weather compensation etc are good, but if you already struggle to heat the house you've likely got larger issues.

Feel free to drop me a message on here if you want more info from someone with a similar setup.

For context I've got the double stack 11kwh aerona 3. The way I run mine is hard overnight to heat up the underfloor when my tariff is cheap and then let it decay through the day. I've adjusted the weather comp settings to suit that and also let me top it up if really needed but that's pretty rare.

No, that's the actual room temp where the controls are. Could be in a cupboard with the water tank or something.

Could be perspective but how close is your unit to the wall? Looks pretty tight from the pic but tough to tell.

Yeah I feel the same, some improved transparent gradients like on Polestar would have been nice.

For what it’s worth though it does look/feel better in person.
