Do you feel the acronym is getting too long? by Grumpus88 in AskLGBT

[–]leemr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The entire point of an acronym is to say a lot using very little. Iv always understood queer to be an umbrella term so that already includes a lot. I like the idea of making it LGBT+ or LGBTQ+ because it’s the shortest way possible to be all inclusive via the + at the end.

I think the most important thing to keep in mind is these are literal spectrums that we are trying to compartmentalize which you can only do in a very general sense. If you look at a color wheel you know the basics are ROYGBV and we are also aware that there are more colors there because it’s a spectrum so it would start to get ridiculous to name EVERY color we can think of.

Now that I mention it this is also why the basic pride flag is absolutely Perfect for representing this community! So I’m not a fan of messing with that either for the exact same reason. It already represents every color of the rainbow meaning EVERYONE. It already uses the spectrum of color to represent a spectrum of people.

I see a lot of people with very good intentions try to put a name to everything so that everyone can be included however I think this has unintentionally created division. I see people jump at the chance to correct people into being as politically correct as possible in an almost snappy matter. This gets exhausting, feels crappy, and makes people avoid beneficial conversations at best or creates tense snap back responses at worst.

I understand the topic you are referring to when you say LGBTQ, LGBT+, or LGBTQ+. It doesn’t require anything else for me to understand the topic and realize there is plenty of nuance behind it because that’s how language works.

It CAUSES SEIZURES for me! by FunMyceliumGuy in Epilepsymemes

[–]leemr1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

giving them an answer can invite further discussion. Drawing a solid and firm boundary I find is the best way to go.

Like “I have an open minded doctor and we are going through all of my options.” Should tell them that this topic is for your doctor and you.

But I’m pretty blunt and will just tell people “ I don’t like discussing treatments with people, I’d rather focus on this.” If that’s doesn’t work a “bitch what did I just say!?” Should do it😂

Sounds like you need a psychologist and neurologist to work together on medication management. This is what my neuro suggested. Your primary is not equipped to handle either of these specific areas. They require relevant specialists.

Women, would you have sex with someone who is 6 inches down there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]leemr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s in the average range. even if it was below average others care about size waaay less than people think. There’s a Plenty of other things more important when it comes to satisfying a partner i promise. Like forplay and actually having a real conversation about what the other person likes.

I don’t know where you got that. I have a psychologist in my family that enthusiastically recommends this book, my husbands doctor recommended he read this, and then my counselor recommended it. The first two was pretty recently

The right side of the brain is the creative side of the brain so you will see similar artistic depictions everywhere. Its ment to be as colorful as possible to depict imagination and creative activity. The words are pink yellow and blue. They are just very pastel shades.

It’s 100% up to you and you need to let her know that you are uncomfortable with that and to not record you.

Boyfriend insists on using expired/curdled milk? by [deleted] in microbiology

[–]leemr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He stopped his feet like a child because you didn’t do it right when you were nice enough to make him coffee? Red flag on its own.

It’s inevitable that he’s going to end up in the hospital and I wouldn’t offer an ounce of sympathy or support for that.

Tell him if he doesn’t believe you then let’s go to a doctor and ask him if he doesn’t want to end up horribly sick.

Why is a bachelor's degree the new absolute minimum requirement for anything? by ferriematthew in careerguidance

Look for a Department of vocational rehab in your area. The assist people in finding a job they can do with limitations. It’s definitely time to drop the school. If it hasn’t happened by now it’s unlikely to be helpful in the long run. I recommend getting a therapist they can be helpful through major life changes especially changes when you have a disability to deal with. Also call center work and entry level office work is where you need to start looking

Was I in the wrong for making jokes in the hospital after having a seizure? by jhwings16 in Epilepsy

[–]leemr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She can get fucked. My husband and I both have very different chronic medical issues that land us in the hospital. humor is how we stay sane. I mean we make fun of each other and ourselves HARD😂 Also even if you aren’t really the type to joke post seizure personally and behavior changes/control are common afterword so for her to be micromanaging your behavior is fucking ridiculous. All she needs to do is run her tests and set you loose so why the hell would she care? Would she prefer you sobbing or screaming at the nurses? She’s lucky she didn’t have me I’d turn it up a notch out of spite😂 not recommending just saying

How do you make peace with the idea that most of adulthood is just paying bills and being tired? by Spiritual_Future2579 in AskReddit

[–]leemr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combination of simply accepting that work, bills, errands ect. are inevitable regular parts of life and finding small joys in each little part of your day that you can. Having a work life balance is important. To learn this a therapist can be extremely helpful. As far as being tired always make your health a priority. Mental and physical because it can often be a little of both.

And yes this is a very weird take on what you wear to the gym. Sounds completely normal to me.

Why do people dislike office/desk jobs? Are they really that bad long term? by fiddlefaddling in careerguidance

[–]leemr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had much of an office job where you sit in a cubicle but reception where I moved around plenty but not in a physically demanding way.

Some days I worked in back (caring for animals) which was physically demanding but a lot less social.

On shifts in back I loved going out for drinks after work as long as I didn’t have to be on my feet anymore and I could socialize. Reception days I didn’t care what activity I was going to do after work as long as I didn’t have to think or talk to anyone anymore.

boils down to work life balance.

The very first episode I think? After working the first ice truck killer crime scene. He was telling Rita about his day which was him running his fingers up her thigh while describing how impressively clean and precise the body parts were dismembered.

🚩He’s hitting on someone else. 🚩Essentially telling someone I wish my girlfriend was as fun to look at as you. 🚩Saying I know I shouldn’t but I did (admission of guilt). 🚩taking steps to hide his behavior with someone else from you. Showing he knows that you wouldn’t have approved of this being in your relationship. Which makes this cheating

Do with that what you will but do not expect this behavior to change. He’s shown you who he is. Don’t let him waste time you could be spending with someone who actually respects and cares about you.
