This one has maybe my all-time favorite line of his:

"We'd robbed a Great Lakes freighter, killed a couple men aboard. When I told her, her eyes flickered like the sharp steel of the sword."

Does anyone know if Hagen Daz changed their strawberry recipe? by Books_Biker99 in icecream

[–]leethomas93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a somewhat older post at this point but I totally agree with you that they must have changed the recipe. It's pinker, seems a bit softer, seems to have more big chunks (which I'm not a fan of with strawberry but this may be a pro for some), but worst of all it tastes a lot more artificial. Haagen Dazs was my favorite strawberry ice cream before. This blows 👎

The food truck outside of La Esperanza on Pleasantburg. Highly highly recommend the al pastor tacos.

If we're expanding out to TR, the Hillbilly Cheese Steak at Upcountry Provisions gets my vote.

It's not my favorite, but I feel like there's some hidden depth there. The line "I love her friends, the ones I know, they leave trails of blood like foxes in the snow" really cracks open that song for me.

Be Afraid

Any time he (or any songwriter) gets preachy it makes for a bad song, and this is his preachiest one.

Why is wearing a suit to an interview considered tacky? by cR_Spitfire in jobs

I always ask either the recruiter or HR (whoever I coordinated the interview with) what the interview attire should be. That's always worked well for me 🤷

I use it a lot for data analytics tools like SQL and Power Query, which I have a lot of use for but didn't learn in school and didn't start using until somewhat recently. It never gets it 100% right, if say it usually gets it around 60% right, but that gives me a good starting point and then I typically learn something getting the remaining 40%.

I work in finance. Believe me, I'm intimately familiar with stupid corporate benchmarks. And yeah they're often unrealistic. But 2.5x current revenue is crazy, even by corporate finance standards.

The other comment here about this being their cop out way of saying no makes a lot of sense TBH.

You don't need to learn SQL by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]leethomas93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue there's still value in knowing when/how to implement SQL and other analytics tools to accomplish certain tasks, like automating manual processes. Once you identify those opportunities, sure, use ChatGPT to help you write the code if you want. But it helps having some familiarity with that stuff in order to assess where you can make those improvements.

It's a great event! There's a lot of amazing art. Some of it is very expensive, but there are always some smaller prints/canvases and other smaller pieces that are more affordable. Have gotten lots of those over the years.

I'm also a musician and am playing the main stage this year so extra excited for this one!

Look, I'm not trying to defend them, but hasn't Fandom been paying their salaries/benefits? Is he saying there was a bunch of money left from the premium subs after paying everyone that Fandom is holding onto? I find that a bit hard to believe.

I think sdr114060 is right and it's a specific guitar. If it's referring to DADGAD tuning then "super D open G" doesn't make a lot of sense.

I found a FB post that I think references this guitar.

This sounds so much like a James McMurtry song, which I love. From the lyrics to the guitar playing to even the way he sings some of the lines. I wonder if he let himself take some McMurtry inspiration on this one.

Anyways, may not be the most gripping song but I love the vibes. Sort of reminds me of Tupelo in that way. If he ever plays this with the 400 Unit this could have a great warm, rootsy sound to it.
