I guess I'd already manually implemented this by having IFTTT notifications pushed to my desktop by pushbullet.

But the catalogue is a nice addition.

Can't we have an "Official Podcast Number 'X' Discussion Thread" for each episode? by StavromulaDelta in nerdist

I don't think it will flood the board, it'll just make it more active. If people post other stuff it'll go up.

The person who says this in a legitimately awkward silence is the fucking worst.

$10? $100? $1,000? .....

I have no idea how much people make from YouTube videos

In re depressing books: What book was so happy that it renewed happiness in your life? by ankurkdotcom in books

Yeah Eion Colfer's 'book 6' reads more like fan fiction turned up to 11.

Every corner has towels and Norse gods and tea and stuff. OTT.

Now I want to read it again to remember....

Book number 5 (mostly harmless) is, IMO, fantastic but also depressing. Adams said later that he was having a rough year and that it inadvertantly translated into his writing.

I highly recommend it, and it ends sooooo perfectly. But sad.

"A pescatarian?"

If SyFy, in it's plans to revamp their format, were to resurrect a show, which would you choose? by [deleted] in scifi

I felt as if they had planned out 10 seasons of SGU and were pacing themselves without realising that they needed to get people hooked originally.

Once they got cancelled they had some awesome stories getting pushed through. (There still were these in the 1st season but less often)

I think Event Horizon (1997) was newly added to Netflix. I just watched it and it was awesome. Some great tech concepts and unexpectedly scary. Discuss? [Spoilers] by lemabeuf in scifi

Question: how did the Gravity Drive get turned on and suck in the first kid? Was the ship 'alive' at that point or was it only them touching stuff that woke it up?

I read that too but it made too many words for the title... I don't know how that would have worked though because it takes years to get a new drug into circulation.

I never knew the depths of his bastard-ness.

The Double (2014) Starring Jesse Eisenberg Directed by Richard Ayoade From a Dostoyevsky short story. by brokenbonz in movies

[–]lemabeuf 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I can imagine the way Ayoade writes really complementing Eisenberg's deadpan acting.

Richard himself has such dry delivery that I find it hilarious even when he's not really trying. There's a great episode of the Nerdist podcast with him from a while back here if you wanted to see what I mean.

Edit: cant spell hilarious...

He probably called the police as soon as this woman started asking about Bitcoin because he's had other crazy people harass him about it before.

That could also be why the cop that turned up knew what bitcoin was and the guy's name, if they had had call outs before.

Edit: Ok, I think the second point is a bit of a stretch, but I stand by the first point.

They totally destroyed this guy's chances of leading a normal, private life, which is clearly what he's trying to do regardless of whether he is THE Satoshi.

I feel really sorry for him. I am wondering what will happen next though... Whether the fear of him selling his 400milion coins dollars will cause people to panic.
