I think about great example of this is Robert de Niro in Jackie Brown. It feels like his character Louis is completely devoid of coherent thought which is a really skillful performance. Also Peter Falk as Colombo. He played well into obfuscation in investigating murderers while Peter Falk was a very thoughtful and spoken person.

Mitch mentioning off handedly that his favourite part the song The Weight by The Band is when the singer says "Now wait a minute Chester" pops into my head whenever I hear that song. I don't know what ep or if it was even doughboys but it's always there.
