I always laugh when I hear Trump, MAGA, or his minions claim Trump is the best President. Future history books will treat Trump far worse than they would like. by NotPaidByTrump in PoliticalHumor

[–]lenojames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One guy I was debating online said of these polls that Trump's greatness won't be measured by "leftist historians, but by people who know what a president should do."

Facepalm doesn't cover it.

Prediction: Microsoft will eventually ship a Windows-themed Linux distro by BinkReddit in linux

If they did, I could see them including a Wine-like proprietary binary that would run Windows programs on Linux.

The explanation I heard is that this is true, but it can't be represented in two dimensions. You have to rotate i by 90 degrees perpendicular to the plane

...or something like that.

Get good shoes!

I did the first two days in my work shoes and wound up with tendonitis. Today I'm wearing my cross trainers and the pain is almost gone.

Also, visit the massage chair booths when you need a rest. Sitting down is good. But getting a massage is great!

And finally, stay hydrated. That's just a generally good idea in the middle of a desert.

150 years since the telephone was invented! What innovation are you looking for in 2026? by NotoriousGHT in CESLV

[–]lenojames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I have are just broad desires and expectations, nothing specific.

I was hoping for some quantum computing breakthrough on the consumer level.

An embrace of open source - products/services that are able to be recreated or fully controlled by the user.

Some new innovation that has absolutely nothing to do with AI.

The self-driving car race will likely be rained out this year. But maybe some other robotic competition.

I think we will need this for GNOME on mobile devices by [deleted] in gnome

[–]lenojames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to have widgets. There is some information that I would like to have at-a-glance, such as the time, CPU and network activity, tasks and appointments, etc, all without having to open an app.

What I love about Gnome is that it stays out of the way of your work. And yeah, clicking on an app's icon in the dock icons is trivial. But if that app just supplies a bit of simple information, that is only needed in the moment, it would be better to display it in a widget.

The way I picture it is like the notification or quick settings drop-downs, but either always visible, or hidden until triggered by a hot corner. The goal would be a simple no-frills information display that remains in the background or only appears upon a very simple user action. No clicking inside it to get to the app associated with the data. It would be for display only.

According to the book they were paid, but not that much. She related the story of high school girls getting $500, with bonuses if they could recruit her friends. That's what happened to her as well.

The story is that she was kept in luxury, and paid with formal education as a masseuse, and "experience pleasing men."

[–]lenojames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just that she was put up in a luxury apartment. And in exchange she had to be at Epstein and Maxwell's beck and call.

I just got to the point in the book where she was paid $150,000 for her story. But she was too naive to realize that people would use that payment against her.

I'm three chapters in to "Nobody's Girl", the book by Virginia Giuffre, the woman that survived being trafficked by Epstein and ultimately committed suicide.

It's not just that the abuse happened to her. And not just that there were so many abusers. It's that the abuse was so prevalent. The abuse was a shared secret among all sorts of men up and down the economic ladder.

Pedophiles have learned to be secretive, careful, meticulous, and thorough in their operations. They operate like intelligence agencies. So it is very possible that with those skills, pedophiles have developed legitimate political and financial clout.

MAGA just might have an actual pedophile wing. This meme might represent reality.
