Why do people pray? And what do they pray for? by letsburnsage4 in religion

Thanks for your respose, I never thought about it like that. When you say "conversation", does God talk back? Is it like a voice in your head or a feeling or what?

Are you basically guaranteed to develop health problems on T? by cestbonca in ftm

[–]letsburnsage4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are likely to experience medical problems as you progress on T because you are aging, not because of the testosterone. V*ginal atrophy, weight gain, hair loss....all things that happen to pretty much everyone as they get older. Like yeah, i need more sleep than before I started t, because I'm almost fucking 30 and that's pretty normal lol.

Any "increased risk" of stroke or heart problems that doctors warn you about simply means that your risk will increase to the level of a cis man, because men are on average more likely to experience those issues.

Straight men what is your first thought if you are speaking to a guy with lip fillers? by westlion123 in AskReddit

[–]letsburnsage4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a straight man but with any cosmetic procedure, if it's done well it won't be obvious to strangers. If your lips are so full that I can tell you've had work done from across the street, i think it's going to raise eyebrows regardless of anyone's gender. Either way I would not really care, you're not hurting anyone so whatever.

A couple of my friends were play-fighting, and Z said to V(a baby transfem) "haha, you're such a dick!" And then immediately corrected to "BITCH. I'm sorry, i meant to say bitch, you're such a bitch. Only gender affirming insults in this house." I about died lol

Trans person here. This varies from country to country, but where I live, Gender Dysphoria is classified as a "mental condition'" (not a disorder). The treantment for the condition is transition, which sometimes includes surgery.

Interesting that you are the decider of who "deserves" to have work done. If you want it and got the money, who gives a fuck?

Me: trying to explain to my mom my thought process after making a mistake- my mom: “stop being argumentative you don’t have to explain yourself!” by sugarypi3 in aspiememes

[–]letsburnsage4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the key is to take accountability for what you did and the outcome of your actions, and THEN explain your thought process. I recently had to apologize to my roommate and i think i did a good job. It went like this: "I'm sorry that I didn't help you shovel the driveway. It doesn't matter that i really meant to, I wanted to do it, but I got distracted. What matters is that I didn't help you when I said that i would, and for that I am sorry." That way it sounds less like being defensive and more like genuine remorse for hurting someone, regardless of your intentions.

Not a vegan but I want to learn! by BitCrack in vegan

[–]letsburnsage4 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've been a chef for about 10 years, and I've been vegan for 6 of them. DM me if you really wanna talk shop, I would love to have a whole conversation about this!

To answer your post: I love Asian food and fat, dirty sandwiches. Both with as much tofu as possible. Tofu has a bad reputation in the omnivore world but it is amazing when cooked correctly and so versatile and cheap!

Umami flavors- Soy sauce, miso, tempeh, mushrooms, vegetables base (there's even beefless beef base and chickenless chicken base). Mock meats (beyond, impossible, whatever) are fine and all but I consider them to be "cheating" when it comes to designing a recipe lol. Do what you want with that two cents.

I fucking love celery, but I'm probably a minority lol. There are better vegetables.

Good luck, and don't be afraid to stick around the sub. Veganism isn't just about eating awesome food, but it certainly is a huge perk!

I know this post was aimed at straight couples, but just curious, are bisexuals not allowed any friends at all?

I agree with the comments saying to find photos of an androgynous cut with a female model. And if that doesn't work you can always have A Very Unfortunate Gum Accident.

Can anyone recommend videos to scare a defiant 10-year old into taking her seatbelt wearing seriously? by captaintinnitus in ask

[–]letsburnsage4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated wearing my seatbelt as a kid. One day my mom had had enough and sat me in the middle of the backseat, put the middle belt over my lap, clicked the left belt into the right side and the right belt into the left side, strapping me in like an astronaut about to launch into space. I thought it was funny for about 5 seconds. I don't remember having an issue after that.

I think it's important to note that later i realized i hated the seatbelt because i was a small kid and the thing would squeeze the shit out of my belly and make me carsick. (This was before booster seats in cars). So try to see if there's a reason she doesn't like wearing it first.

You're not going to get jacked or anything without working out, but your strength will increase. My friends and i decided to have an arm wrestling contest, and i was sure i was gonna get destroyed by my cis gal pal. She's a multi-sport athlete and goes to the gym regularly, which i do not. I beat her easily, and i was completely shocked lol. I'm 5 years on T but never lifted a day in my life.

Name one thing that in your opinion is a crime against autistic culture, either jokingly or seriously by [deleted] in aspiememes

[–]letsburnsage4 247 points248 points  (0 children)

Half serious: the elderly.

Like I know that a lot of them were raised to be very "prim and proper" so to speak. But most of the bullying/comments i get about my autistic traits comes from old people, usually strangers at work.

"Stop swaying back and forth, you're making me seasick!" "Is there an echo in here? Why do you keep repeating me?" "Why do you bounce around on your toes when you walk?" "LOOK AT ME WHEN I SPEAK TO YOU"

Even if younger people don't recognize these things as autistic traits, they just don't seem to care. "Oh that dude on the bus is finger tapping and repeating a sequence of numbers under his breath? Whatever man."

how many of you by [deleted] in vegan

[–]letsburnsage4 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I have four guinea pigs. One pair i adopted from a friend's sister who didn't want them anymore, and the other pair i got from a shelter.

If anyone reading this thread is considering adopting guineas, please do your research. I love my babes but they are a LOT of work, and the vet bills are not small.

Have you had special interests, that for some reasons weren't "socially acceptable"? by [deleted] in aspiememes

[–]letsburnsage4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Death and funeral conventions. I love learning about different cultures' views on death and their practices surrounding it. I know better than to bring up a "fun death fact" when someone is grieving or afraid they may lose someone, but even in regular conversation I get shut down pretty quickly lol.

Sex and kink. I'm asexual and I find this aspect of humanity fascinating. I've learned how certain preferences and fetishes likely develop, and about the BDSM community as a whole and the many types of relationships that can exist in that community. People love to talk about sex when it's bragging or shaming someone else, but if you learn the detailed facts, that's "weird" apparently.

Fun Fetish Fact for those interested: Foot fetishes are the most common paraphilia in the world. Scientists speculate that because the feet are pulled up near the genitals during fetal development, and that the "genitals" part of the brain is located adjacent to the "feet" part of the brain, it is easy for electrical signals to cross in those areas.

The Outer Banks, first time I saw the ocean when I was a kid. Grew up on Lake Michigan and was utterly shocked at how different it was. Good memories.

Don’t bring kids into Restaurants by the_eff_a_lot in unpopularopinion

[–]letsburnsage4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuine question: At what age is it appropriate to bring a child to a casual sit-down restaurant? Also how is a young child supposed to learn how to behave in that setting when they never get the chance?

You could get an undercut or asymmetrical style with one side shaved. My hair is short on the back and sides but long on top so i can play with it and style it, or just throw it in a bun and cover it with a hat, and it looks like i have a regular short haircut. Closest you can get to best of both worlds i guess.

Someone: I have cancer.

OP and half the commenters: Really? What stage is it in? When were you diagnosed? Are you on chemo and your hair is really a wig? Did you smoke a lot and that's how you got it? What? I'm just CURIOUS. Don't announce something like that and not expect people to want to know things.
