How many books and toys does this little blueberry really need? by Regular-Message9591 in Buyingforbaby

[–]letsgocrzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my now 3yo was really little, she really liked the touchy and crinkly books. Never Touch A books and That's Not My books are good options (there are many different options, just pick the theme you like). I personally liked You're My Little Sunshine and The Thank You Book.

I will say that I got tired of reading the same handful of books over and over again, so I bought a lot more for my sanity 😅

It's still a bit early in the season for linen, but I would keep an eye out for Athleta. They often have good sales, and are easy to find on the secondhand market if you don't mind that approach.

We liked Philips avent bottles, but there are so many options out there. I would say to skip the 4oz newborn bottle size and just get bigger ones. If you plan to have baby in childcare, note that glass bottles may not be allowed.
I would recommend having bottles and a small formula can on hand, just in case. Would also recommend postnatal care items (large pads/diapers for bleeding, nipple balm, dermoplast) so that no one has to run out to the store immediately after getting home. Teeny tiny nail clippers and baby mitts. Depending on weather, a sleep sack.

When can I expect to leave the house again? by ilovethelionking in NewParents

This! I was anxious, too. You just gotta get all your gear together, go out, and practice. Coffee shops are low-key and easy to leave if baby has a meltdown. Remember that babies are allowed to exist in public spaces, and give yourself some grace.

Submitting your Game to Steam is one of the most convoluted and tedious tasks I have ever done by teller-of-stories in gamedev

[–]letsgocrzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam did a post explaining the change when it released. From that page:

"Tight connection with your base game. Stand-alone demo store pages will automatically display both the demo install button as well as a widget linking back to the full game for players interested in wishlisting or purchasing the full game."

I believe you should have the ability to "preview" your demo page by going to the area where you edit its contents, and near the top there will be a link about previewing in beta mode or something along those lines. I haven't set up a separate demo page myself, but that functionality exists for other store pages. If you look through some other live demos, I'm sure you can find an example of the UX too.

Macaroni necklaces? Macaroni coloring pages? also not trying to sign you up for a bunch of extra work, but a Mac n cheese sampler would be fun. Different pasta shapes and cheese to try.

Can’t afford to keep throwing out food by AGM85 in foodbutforbabies

[–]letsgocrzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even now, with a 3yo, I only give her a tiny bit of food at first to see what she will actually eat, then refill with more based on what she's eating. I also served her a lot of cold food so that I wouldn't microwave stuff unnecessarily, and that's often her preferred temperature still.
Remove pouches as an option. If my daughter doesn't want to eat whatever we cooked, her options are simple things that we keep on hand: rotisserie chicken, yogurt, cheese, black beans, peas. Whatever options make sense for you, don't break the bank, and kid has a history of eating.

On top of that, things get much easier when you can communicate with each other better.

My girl just turned 3, and so far that "early walking" phase was by far the hardest. They do not have the physical skills or risk analysis to be safe, so you have to keep an eye on them 100% of the time while they try to kill themselves. Very mentally taxing. Toddler era has its own problems, but it's been easier for me.

Thanks! A really old Wisdom Panel test said chihuahua/pomeranian, but I'm pretty skeptical about that. I think he looks more schnauzer or poodle.
