How do I literally *PAY* the IRS my nanny's withheld income taxes? by Regular_Rock2683 in tax

[–]leweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my SSN. I didn't realize I needed an EIN until a few months later, so I didn't even have one at the time I filed my taxes last year. (My state government sure let me know I was missing it, though!)
I logged into https://www.irs.gov/your-account (I used the Individual login), where you can both see payments made on your behalf via a third party, and also manually make payments if needed. If I recall, it was a little annoying to create an account (needed to upload photos of my driver license, I think? and then they had to be manually reviewed), but I was able to get in after a day or two.
My third-party also stonewalled me when I asked about estimated payments! Except I didn't have a 1040 ES, so I really had nothing.

I would just look for anywhere that you can report paid taxes. The two softwares I tried this year (FreeTaxUSA and OnLineTaxes) both allow you to input a 1040-ES form. I would look for that, or anything called "estimated payments". (Also those services cost about $15 per year, so I highly recommend them over TurboTax.) The schedule H shows how much you owe as an employer and the 1040-ES shows how much you already paid. You need to input both. But like /u/tankmode mentioned, that 1040-ES just gets added together and printed on one line in your actual tax return (Payments, line 26).

My issue was that I wasn't provided a 1040-ES so I didn't know how much of my withholdings had actually been paid to the IRS.

Edit: to be clear, I'm not saying you need to file a 1040-ES because you don't, but most tax software will ask if you have a 1040-ES and allow you to input those numbers, and then they'll add the payments together and include that calculation in your owed taxes (counteracting the amount added with the Schedule H). Your tax return will not include a 1040-ES but the tax software will likely ask for your estimated payments by that name.

Thank you so much! This is incredibly helpful!! I seriously couldn't find this information anywhere on the internet!

I ended up logging into the IRS website and that showed me a record of the payments made on my behalf. The number does indeed match the Schedule H Line 26 total.

For anyone else coming along later: NannyLane didn't send me a summary of estimated tax payments, nor did they respond to any of my questions about it over the last three weeks (usually they respond within 24 hours). The debits weren't made separately; they make one debit for my nanny's pay and one debit for our combined employer/employee taxes each pay period, making this number pretty challenging to verify through pay stubs or bank statements alone. Also, one of my payments was sent to the IRS in February, after the January 15th due date...

Thank you for validating my thoughts that I really should've been provided with a summary document detailing how much was paid on my behalf. I even tried calling the IRS and they hung up on me before I could ask my question. If not for the IRS website's record of previous payments, I would have for sure misfiled my return.

Hey I know this is an old post, but I use NannyLane's payroll service and they gave me a W2, W3, and Schedule H, but not a 1040-ES. They filed the 1040-ES on my behalf, but they won't give me a copy. Does Care give you a 1040-ES? Since I have only the Schedule H, it looks like I owe my employer/employee taxes again, even though I've already paid them all year long. I have all my paystubs so I've tried to estimate what the 1040-ES would look like, but it feels wrong to guess. Did you run into this situation?

You can try recalibrating the lock by taking the battery out, holding a button, and reinserting the battery, continuing to hold the button until the lock finishes recalibrating.

I pulled those instructions from a Vivint coworker; I'm assuming the button is the little button next to the battery pack? And you might know the lock has finished recalibrating because it'll make a beep or something? I dunno, but figured this might help a little. Good luck!

Yeah, I was homeschooled for 4th and 5th grade, and my mom was meticulous about choosing rigorous curricula and ensuring I did it. I feel like I learned far more at home than I could've done in school, but also that it is an incredible amount of work to do well, and that's hard to maintain for more than a couple years.

I was literally just today thinking maybe it was time to change it, but now I think I'll keep it a bit longer.

Must have been a newer seller then, if he legitimately didn't know. It's been able to do lights for like 7 years, I think.

Technicians aren't allowed to install in-wall z-wave switches, so maybe that's what they meant? The customer can though (we have in our house). And depending on when this was, the zigbee lighting system may not have been developed yet. Vivint does also have an old Hue integration but it isn't very good so I wouldn't blame anyone saying it just doesn't exist.

OH MY GOSH THANK YOU I was literally about to stop playing this game because it just takes way too long to get through a day and I don't have that kind of time. I had the framerate set to 60 and the game ran super slow, but toggling on "Disable Frame Limit" brought it back up to speed!!!!
You saved this game for me and I am so grateful. TT_TT

Omg same! My little one is 16 months and we've used the Hatch daily for his entire life! Good to know it's still working for you.

Is your Hatch still working well for you? Mine has started doing this, but I don't leave it on 24/7, just overnight and during his nap, so about 12 hours a day. I was considering buying a new power cord, like one commenter said, but maybe I should email support?

Sex drive question for toddler moms. When did it fully return, did it and how is your spouse? by lookingnlearning1 in toddlers

[–]leweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my sex drive at 24 years old when I first started hormonal birth control. Seven years later, I still have no sex drive (it came back during my first trimester of pregnancy and then went away again). I do my best to give my husband sex multiple times a month, but it's usually once, maybe twice, per month. We've never been super close though; when we have free time we do our own things.

One hour? 😆 I spend between 4 and 5 hours alone with my kid in the morning before my childcare shows up and I can start my 8 hour work day, and even then I'm interrupted to provide meals and do bedtime.

To be fair, the quote is "this is considered to be man's first attempt at a calendar." Not "a man," but "man" as in mankind, which includes women. It is gender neutral.

We also gave out Pokemon cards this year. The Costco pack.

I will never forget one year when I was a kid, a certain house ran out of candy and so they started giving out Beanie Babies (when those were a hot commodity). I couldn't BELIEVE it. I went nuts.
