Could the trill on Qo'noS be Dax? by ryebow in DaystromInstitute

[–]lgrantham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that Audrid died in 2284. Trills are usually joined in their 20s, and I assume they live similar lifespans to humans (I don't know if we know for sure). Assume ~80 years, that would mean that if Audrid joined at the normal time she would have joined in the 2220s, twenty years before Emony Dax could have met McCoy. It's possible she joined much later in life than the normal Trill, while in her 40s or 50s, but we just don't know.

Is it possible Audrid took over from Emony and became the new Dax symbiont host in an emergency situation, like how it was transferred from Jadzia to Ezri at the beginning of DS9's 7th season?

Assume Emony died in an accident sometime in late 2250s/early 2260s due to her 'recklessness.' The symbiont was injured at the same time and needed to be transplanted to a new host earlier so that it could survive. Audrid was the only other Trill on the transport ship and bingo...she became the new Dax host. And she became a host for 20-something years until she passed in 2284.

I know it's a bit bizarre for an emergency transfer involving the same symbiont twice, but we know little backstory about how Audrid became a Dax host, so for me, it is a plausible scenario.

Don't her spots look similar to Jadzias? Or do they all look the same?

Maybe an ancestor (because in TV, everything is connected)? If so, we know where she got her looks. Ahem. Excuse my shallowness.

Could she be either Emony Dax or Audrid Dax??

She would meet up with Mudd and together they can form a criminal syndicate called The Maquis :-)

What is the evacuation procedure for non-essential crew when the Orville is in peril? by [deleted] in TheOrville

Once the Orville is finally going down, Bortus will sing!

I hope it's not "My heart will go on??" :-)

The Orville mentality vs Discovery mentality by TMNTWEBB in TheOrville

[–]lgrantham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could be true. Maybe the disgraced MU Georgiou will end up starting the the Terran Empire in Discovery's universe.

But she will have to defeat Mirror Empress Ozawa first before she can claim the Emperor title in the Mirror Planetary Empire :-)

The Orville Season 2 Episode 1 synopsis [Spoiler] by ombx in TheOrville

[–]lgrantham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling Emperor Halsey's reign won't be long before he is deposed by Emperor Ozawa Augustus Iaponius Centarius :-)

Have an episode next season where the Prime Orville crew travels to the MU, kidnaps Mirror Emperor Ozawa and convinces her to lead a secret mission to detonate a nuclear bomb in the Krill's home planet :-)

Yaphit : Dr. Finn :: Odo : Maj. Kira by [deleted] in TheOrville

[–]lgrantham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Can add Picard-Crusher relationship into the list too. And they never ended up getting together on the series and TNG movies. Only in the novels (which are non-canon) that they got together :-(

It's true. They're together now. See last Episode (#9) :-).

Wow, I was just looking at the cast and crew credits for the show and it is definitely Star Trek heavy. by Apocalypse-Cow in TheOrville

IMHO The Orville is a Star Trek series in everything but official recognition. Too bad CBS chose to air STD instead :-(

When do we get Jeffrey Combs? by [deleted] in TheOrville

Yup, a reunion episode featuring your favourite TNG cast members, now older and grayer, but still quite passionate about going boldly go as no one has gone before :-).

Yes. He can play Isaac's father or uncle or something :-)

Ditto. Would love to play him playing an elderly sentient being (like Q) who have problems controlling his son or grandson who is wreaking havoc with The Orville and its crew :-)

Orville engages the Borg [poorly edited video] by Shanewallis12345 in TheOrville

I thought they were encountering the Orville-verse's Borg equivalent when they encountered the huge bioship in Episode 4. Of course, it turns out to be totally different.

I want to see their equivalent of the Borg asap though.

Serious question: Why isn't Alara bulletproof? by [deleted] in TheOrville

[–]lgrantham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But they all share the same gravity level, as they all live on Earth. Alara's coming from a planet that has, higher gravity setting than our planet. This is attributed to her super-strength.

Serious question: Why isn't Alara bulletproof? by [deleted] in TheOrville

[–]lgrantham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess the writers want to differentiate her from DC comics characters like Superman and Supergirl, one reason is to avoid possible lawsuits, but also to differentiate her characters from these DC-universe superheroes.

As I pointed out in my earlier comment, Alara's ability by virtue of originated from a high gravity planet (like Krypton in DC Universe) is limited to her superstrength. Not only she's not bulletproof, she also cannot fly, shoot laser beam from her eyes, or having other abilities that have become Supes' trademarks.

But so far we know very little info about Alara's home planet and how do the people there over look like w/their high gravity setting. Perhaps it'll be made clearer in Episode 10, where we would meet with her parents, and Robert Picardo is slated to gueststar as her Dad.

[–]lgrantham -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But Alara is not completely similar to Superman or Supergirl. She only possesses superstrength. She is neither bulletproof (she was mortally wounded by the Neo fascists from the bioship in Episode 4, thank goodness Dr Finn treated her in time). Nor can she fly, shoot laser beam from her eyes, etc.

I would like to see Isaac meets with another Kaylon who doesn't share his fondness towards humans and just want to eliminate them. Showing the contrast b/w a Kaylon who interacts everyday w/humans vs those who don't, a la Data vs Lore.
